Ethnic diversity in the U.S. nursing workforce had not been well researched. This aspect of nursing is important to the advancement of the profession because ethnic diversity of nursing helps reduce health care disparities. The purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to examine the possible relationship between the perceived ethnicity of nurse leaders and the engagement of bedside nurses. Newly graduated nurses (NGNs) are not prepared to transition to practice, often leaving practice within the first year. The purpose of this descriptive qualitative study, guided by Meleis’ transition theory, was to explore the NGN’s perceptions of their senior practicum experience and how the experience prepared them for transition to practice. The Covid-19 pandemic limited recruitment of participants. After extended recruitment efforts, three NGNs were recruited, interviewed using a semistructured interview guide, and recorded using Zoom, which was verified while listening to the recording. AbstractDiabetes is among chronic or lifestyle-related illnesses posing health care challenges at epidemic proportions, pressuring health care systems infrastructure for positive outcome-driven practices and sustainable costs, as continued research suggests that obese people are up to 80 times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes. In June 2021, a weight-loss and wellness center serving this high-risk population established recommended guidelines for Hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C) screening and education.
