COVID-19 negatively impacted students' abilities to participate in live, in-person events; students were unable to interact with peers or build relationships critical to success and well-being. Quarantine, social distancing and video conferencing did not create this problem however, it simply amplified the fact that dental students seemingly lack camaraderie and a sense of belongingness. Infants diagnosed with neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome (NOWS) exhibit neurobehavioral dysregulation that may make them challenging to feed, potentially impeding positive early maternal-infant interactions. The goal of this study was to investigate dyadic behavior during the maternal-infant feeding interaction, specifically infant dysregulation and maternal sensitivity, between dyads with opioid exposure in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). This was a secondary data analysis using a mixed-methods design to analyze videorecorded feeding interactions of mothers with opioid use disorder (OUD) and their infants with NOWS. Background Angiogenic growth mediators (AGMs) and oxidative stress (OS) both play essential roles in normal placental vascular development and as such, placental alterations in these factors contribute to pre-eclampsia (PE). Despite having previous experience and extensive trauma training, the COVID-19 pandemic presented unprecedented challenges for nurses working in hospital settings. During the pandemic, nurses struggle to care for patients and protect themselves from infection, while navigating ongoing organizational changes. Guided by prior literature on social support and coping, this study explores nurses’ experiences of coping with stress while treating COVID-19 patients during the pandemic. In recent decades the average age of becoming a parent has increased, the rate of teen pregnancies has decreased, and a new developmental period of emerging adulthood is marked by diverse pathways into adulthood. Today, those who become parents in young adulthood (18–24 years old) and their children may be vulnerable to poor outcomes observed in teen parents (13–19 years old) of previous generations.
