Introduction: Parenting a child diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is challenging for mothers because of concerns related to behavior, difficulties in accessing specialized care, and lack of community acceptance, yet their stories in Jordanian context are still unknown. Common challenges in Jordan include financial burdens, lack of public awareness, and lack of specialized knowledge even among health care providers, which may lead to delays in obtaining the diagnosis and interventions for ASD.

The Institute of Medicine, Carnegie Foundation and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) initially accelerated the movement to increase the number of Baccalaureate (BSN) prepared nurses in the workforce. Research demonstrated lower mortality rates, fewer medication errors and positive outcomes linked to nurses prepared at the BSN and higher levels. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by a novel coronavirus, started in livestock within the markets of Wuhan, China and was consequently spread around the world. The virus has been rapidly spread worldwide due to the outbreak. COVID-19 is the third serious coronavirus outbreak in less than 20 years after Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in 2003 and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) in 2012. This Doctor of Nursing Practice project will inform the audience of stroke awareness as it pertains to oral contraceptives. The study’s focus was to enhance the knowledge of African American women ages 20–40 that have used or are currently using an oral contraceptive. It has been identified that this patient population lacked the knowledge regarding stroke and oral contraceptives, and African American women continue to have the highest incidence of stroke. African American women also make up more than half of the consumers utilizing oral contraceptives. The Transdisciplinary Collaborative Center (TCC) in Precision Medicine for Minority Men's Health was established at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in 2015 to address disparities in the translation of precision medicine approaches among racial minority groups. Study Design Prospective case series Objective Results of surgical treatment of complex vertebral transposition “Gamma Deformity” > 180 degrees with halo gravity traction (HGT) and vertebral column resection (VCR). Summary of background data We recently published a novel classification system for complex spine deformities of which complex vertebral transposition > 180 degrees (Gamma; type 3) was described. Halo gravity traction (HGT) has been shown to mitigate surgical risk in complex spine deformity correction and in some cases obviates the need for three-column osteotomy. The Association Between Physiological Sources Of Pain And Sleep Quality In Older Adults With And Without Dementia, Crystal-Rae Waltons, Christine R. Kovach

The association of musculoskeletal pain, respiratory distress, gastrointestinal discomfort, and genitourinary pain to sleep quality in 89 persons with and without dementia was examined in the current exploratory, cross-sectional, observational quantitative design. Sources of pain were recorded, with 37.1% of the sample reporting urinary retention, 30.3% reporting genitourinary discomfort, and 53.9% reporting gastrointestinal discomfort. Mild scores of musculoskeletal pain and respiratory discomfort were elicited in >75% of the sample. An actigraph was used to measure sleep variables. Findings from this research illustrated dementia, gender, pillow use, respiratory distress, and urinary retention were statistically significantly associated with nighttime sleep quality. Results …

Practice Problem: There was a report of an existing practice problem of increased 30-day readmission rates in medically complex children at an outpatient clinic within an extensive hospital system. Hospital readmissions can cause clinical, social, and financial burdens to the patients and their families and thus reflected a need for interventions to reduce readmissions.

Approximately 60% of these surgical infections are preventable (Ban et al., 2017). This study’s aim was to evaluate the effectiveness of an existing peer support program as an adjunct treatment for patients with depression. This retrospective evaluation analyzed the total scores of 110 patients with depression on the PHQ-9 questionnaire at the initial assessment (Time 1), at 6-weeks (Time 2), and then at 12-weeks (Time 3). The participants were divided into two groups, those who enrolled in a peer support program (n = 55) and those without peer support (n = 55). This project analyzed the effects of guided meditations and a stress management class on undergraduate, prelicensure nursing students’ perceived stress levels. College students and professional nurses are both susceptible to having high stress levels. Mindfulness activities have been shown to lower stress levels. Undergraduate, prelicensure nursing students participated in this project determining the effects of guided meditations and a stress management class on perceived stress levels in a quantitative, pre- and postinterventional study.
