Integrated care models for substance use disorder (SUD) and reproductive health care have been proposed as a strategy to increase access to reproductive health care for women in treatment for SUD. This cross-sectional, survey-based study measured how women of childbearing age in residential treatment report their demand for and access to reproductive health care, their pregnancy intention, contraceptive utilization and preference for integrating reproductive health care with their current SUD treatment milieu. Eighty-five percent of the women interviewed (N=108) expressed a desire to prevent pregnancy in the next year, although only one-third (33.6%) were using a form of contraception at …

Background: The underutilization of kidney transplant as the preferred treatment for end-stage renal disease is influenced by a lack of knowledge, poor attitudes toward transplantation, and various socio-demographic characteristics amongst the patient population. Negative attitudes toward renal transplant disengages the patient from the evaluation process and often hinders their likelihood of receiving a transplant. Background: Literature has documented when a mother elects to breastfeed, she offers herself and her baby with many short and long-term wellness and health benefits. Therefore, maternal child healthcare providers should be prompted to scale up breastfeeding practices that promote lactation. Skin-to-skin contact (SSC) is underutilized, yet a cost-effective incentive to promote successful breastfeeding. Traditional postnatal assessments lead to the precipitous disconnect of the mother-baby dyad resulting in delayed SSC and breastfeeding initiation. Background/Significance: Psychological distress in undergraduate college students is a significant concern in the U.S. Many stressors, such as academics and finances, are associated with high levels of reported stress, depression and anxiety. Nursing students face additional stressors, such as meeting program requirements, practicing in clinical environments and preparing for their licensure exam.

In this paper, we evaluated inpatient discharge satisfaction based on nurses’ perceptions. An anonymous survey was used to evaluate how satisfied the patients were when being discharged from the acute care hospital with survey questions answered by nurses who work on medical-surgical floors. Problem: Approximately 25% of skilled nursing facility (SNF) patients are diagnosed with heart failure (HF). The heart failure mortality trajectory is non-linear and there are no useable mortality models from clinical records for use by healthcare providers in the SNF setting. The aim of this evidence-based practice (EBP) intervention project was to decrease agitated behaviors in residents with dementia as well as educate the staff on the proper implementation of doll therapy. The facility used was a local skilled nursing and rehabilitation center that offers short-term and long-term care processes to residents with dementia.
