Asthma is a chronic disease affecting families in the United States; especially pediatric patients aged 5-18. In Pittsfield, Massachusetts the local prevalence of asthma is 14.4% versus 12.1% statewide and 8.4% nationally. These patients miss school days thus causing parental workday loss. In 2016, 14.4 million missed school days occurred due to asthma (Alexander et al., 2016). Unexpected clinic visits, as well as emergency room visits due to asthma, can contribute to rising healthcare costs both locally and nationally. Unexpected asthma visits are a leading reason for visits to this author’s clinic.

Non-ST elevation acute coronary syndromes (NSTE-ACS) have significant morbidity and mortality rates despite the progress made in diagnosis and management and represent a significant public health burden in the United States. Lengthy diagnostic algorithms contribute to emergency department over-crowding, increased health care costs, and adverse patient outcomes. A troponin assay instituted earlier in the diagnostic pathway of patients with chest pain suspected of NSTE-ACS will reduce time to definitive diagnosis and medical intervention. This study examined the relationship between distress and the development of Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in the presence of established risk factors. Distress secondary to mental health disparities, stressful life events, and work conditions has been shown to promote insulin resistance and the development of T2DM.

Subjects (N=79) diagnosed with T2DM within the previous six months were recruited from SSM Health Centers and VA Medical Centers in the greater St. Louis area. Background
The purpose of this study is to better understand undergraduate nurses’ experiences in learning about Indigenous health. This will determine what changes are needed within nursing education locally and across Canada. Implications for nursing education, research, practice, policy, and leadership will be drawn to provide pragmatic suggestions in improving Indigenous health status and outcomes. Background: The rate of cesarean has significantly increased over the last decade with labor dystocia being the most common indicator for primary cesarean deliveries. This diagnosis was of labor dystocia was first established in the 1950’s by Emmanual A. Friedman. Due to the stark rise in cesareans, a landmark paper by Zhang challenged his definition of labor dystocia and changed the cesarean guidelines by adjusting the parameters that defined labor dystocia.
