The importance of empathy in undergraduate nursing education is undeniable yet scholars from multiple disciplines struggle with a precise definition. Unfortunately, empathy is on the decline nationally, particularly with traditional college-aged individuals. An additional challenge to the empathy of healthcare professionals is caring for individuals with alcohol use disorders due to the difficult nature of the symptomatology. Simulation with standardized patients is frequently used to evaluate the empathy of health care professional students. However, little evidence exists regarding simulation with standardized patients and empathy of nursing students towards individuals with an alcohol use disorder.

Background: Adolescent childbirth continues as a public health concern, and investigation of postpartum posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) and depression is important to inform future research and practice. Longitudinal studies exploring PTSS alone or in combination with depression are non-existent for postpartum adolescent populations. This study aimed to identify stress/PTSS and depression symptoms at 72 hours and three, six, and nine months postpartum, and determine if symptoms at each time point predicted later symptoms. While there are policies in place for practicing anesthetists, there are no known studies to date discussing reentry policies specific to the student registered nurse anesthesia (SRNA) population. The purpose of this research study was to describe key stakeholders’ knowledge and perspectives surrounding policies for reentry into academic programs for SRNAs in Illinois with SUD.

CVD Risk assessments are calculated using several traditional risk factors including age, gender, race, blood pressure, cholesterol, history of diabetes, and smoking to estimate a persons’ risk of developing CVD (heart disease or stroke) in the next 10-years. COPD is typically managed through pharmacological therapies however nonpharmacological therapies such as pulmonary rehabilitation can be added for treatment. This integrative literature review seeks to identify a correlation between an expectant mothers’ lack of familial support and lower socioeconomic status and their newborn baby’s hospital admission(s). Various journals and research studies demonstrate that when mothers have added support from community doulas, both mother and baby tend to have a more positive experience.
