The purpose of this study was to explore the sociocultural factors which play a role in the process of ending an abusive relationship among Latinas. Dimensional analysis was the method employed for the development of a grounded theory. Aguantando or enduring emerged from this study as pivotal in gaining an understanding of the process of ending an abusive relationship for Latinas. Participants indicated that personal and religious beliefs, the importance of family, and the needs of their children were reasons for aguantando or enduring the abuse. The purpose of this investigation was to study the experience of individuals who live with and manage HIV infection and AIDS. The context of living with HIV/AIDS, the prevailing conditions, the actions/strategies used, and the consequences of the actions were considered using grounded theory methodology and dimensional analysis. A purposeful sample of 21 individuals HIV positive or diagnosed with AIDS from San Diego, California and Tijuana, Mexico were interviewed using semi-structured questions. This two-phase study was undertaken to: (1) determine the relationships of self-efficacy, perceived health status, perceived social support, age, marital status, education, work shift, work setting, and years employed as a registered nurse (RN) to the practice of a health-promoting lifestyle; (2) determine the combination of predictor variables explaining the variance in the practice of a health-promoting lifestyle; and (3) investigate other personal and environmental cues and characteristics related to health-promoting lifestyles among nurses (N = 218) in Taiwan. The Experiences Of Taiwanese Women Caregiving For Parents-In-Law, Shu-Yuan Chao Dnsc

Using grounded theory, a semi-structured in-depth interview was conducted to explore the experiences of Taiwanese women who were caregivers for their parents-in-law. Thirty-one Taiwanese women aged 23 to 58 participated in this study. Just Doing was identified as the core category to indicate the caregivers' striving process once they committed to their in-laws' care. Recognizing Duty, Experiencing Trials, and Responding to Caregiving were subcategories and reflected how a caregiver perceived her role, how she was affected by caregiving tasks, and what responses she had to the caregiving situation. The purpose of this qualitative study was to generate theory about women's perimenopausal life experiences. Thirty-five Taiwanese women aged 40 to 59 who perceived themselves as perimenopausal and who were not using hormone therapy were interviewed. Data were generated from interviews which were conducted in Mandarin. Living with Changing Health was the core category for describing and guiding the process of perimenopause. During this process, Awareness was identified as the antecedent condition. Once the woman became aware, she would begin the process of living with her changing health. The purpose of this quantitative descriptive study was to examine consumer knowledge,attitudes, intention, and beliefs about nurse practitioners(NPs ),to determine whether a relationship existed between knowledge,attitudes, intentions, and beliefs, and demographic variables of age, gender, ethnicity,education,degree, profession, type of insurance, :frequency of visits to a primary care provider in the past 12 months, and consumer exposure to nurse practitioners.A conceptual :framework combining Orem's self care deficit theory and Ajzen and Fishbein's theory of reasoned action.This framework was used to explain the relationship between knowledge,attitudes,intention, beliefs, and behavior and the nurse practitioner's role in intervening to affect change in that relationship.Subjects(n=202)from …

The purpose of this investigation was to generate a substantive theory of cultural discovery among nurses who work with Vietnamese. A grounded theory approach involving dimensional analysis was employed. A purposive sample of 27 registered nurses with experiences working with Vietnamese in acute care, community, and clinic settings was interviewed using a semi-structured format. Data were analyzed for dimensions as well as conditions, context, action strategies, and consequences. The theory of cultural discovery described how nurses learn to see their Vietnamese clients, how they saw a common humanity with others, and how they learn to see health. Nurses who made …

The use of doubly labeled water (DLW) to measure energy expenditure is subject to error if the background abundance of the oxygen and hydrogen isotope tracers changes during the test period. This study evaluated the accuracy and precision of different methods by which such background isotope changes can be corrected, including a modified method that allows prediction of the baseline that would be achieved if subjects were to consume water from a given source indefinitely. การวิจัยเชิงทดลองครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเปรียบเทียบความสามารถในการใช้กระบวนการ พยาบาลของนักศึกษาพยาบาลก่อนและหลังได้รับการสอนที่เน้นการคิดอย่างมีวิจารณญาณ และเปรียบเทียบความสามารถในการใช้กระบวนการพยาบาล ระหว่างกลุ่มที่ได้รับการสอนที่เน้นการคิด อย่างมีวิจารณญาณ กับกลุ่มที่ได้รับการสอนตามปกติ โดยกลุ่มตัวอย่างคือนักศึกษาพยาบาลชั้นปีที่ 1 ปีการศึกษา 2538 ของวิทยาลัยพยาบาลบรมราชชนนี ราชบุรี 1 ที่เรียนวิชาแนวคิดพื้นฐานและ หลักการพยาบาล 2 จํานวน 100 คน ที่ได้จากการสุ่มแบบแบ่งชั้น แบ่งเป็น กลุ่มทดลอง 50 คน กลุ่มควบคุม 50 คน กลุ่มทดลองได้รับการสอนที่เน้นการคิดอย่างมีวิจารณญาณ กลุ่มควบคุมได้รับ การสอนตามปกติ ทําการทดลอง โดยวิธีทดสอบก่อนและหลังการทดลองเครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ แผนการสอนที่เน้นการคิดอย่างมีวิจารณญาณ และแบบสอบ เอ็ม อี คิว วัดความสามารถในการใช้ กระบวนการพยาบาลวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้ค่าเฉลี่ย และสถิติทดสอบที (t-test) \nผลการวิจัยพบว่า \n1. ความสามารถในการใช้กระบวนการพยาบาล ของนักศึกษาพยาบาลกลุ่มที่ได้รับการสอน ที่เน้นการคิดอย่างมีวิจารณญาณ สูงกว่าก่อนการทดลอง อย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 \n2. ความสามารถในการใช้กระบวนการพยาบาล ของนักศึกษาพยาบาลกลุ่มที่ได้รับการสอน ที่เน้นการคิดอย่างมีวิจารณญาณสูงกว่ากลุ่มที่ได้รับการสอนตามปกติ อย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาการปฏิบัติบทบาทอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์ พยาบาล และหาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่าง ปัจจัยด้านบุคคล ปัจจัยด้านสถานการณ์ และการรับรู้บทบาท กับการปฏิบัติบทบาทอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์พยาบาล รวมทั้งศึกษากลุ่มตัวแปรที่สามารถร่วม กันพยากรณ์การปฏิบัติบทบาทอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์พยาบาล ตัวอย่างประชากร คือ อาจารย์ พยาบาลจำนวน 339 คน ซึ่งได้จากการสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบหลายขั้นตอน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยเป็น แบบสอบถาม ปัจจัยด้านบุคคล ปัจจัยด้านสถานการณ์ การรับรู้บทบาท และการปฏิบัติบทบาท อาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์พยาบาลที่ผู้วิจัยสร้างขึ้น และผ่านการตรวจสอบคุณภาพแล้ว \nผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ดังนี้ \n1. ค่าเฉลี่ยการปฏิบัติบทบาทอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์พยาบาลรวมทุกด้านอยู่ในระดับสูง และเมื่อจำแนกเป็นบทบาทในการพัฒนานักศึกษา 9 ด้าน คือ ด้านสัมพันธภาพกับนักศึกษา ด้านการ พัฒนาบูรณาการ ด้านการพัฒนาความมีเอกลักษณ์ ด้านการพัฒนาความเป็นตัวของตัวเอง และด้าน การพัฒนาสมรรถนะทางด้านความรู้และสติปัญญาอยู่ในระดับสูง ส่วนด้านการพัฒนาเป้าหมายชีวิต ของนักศึกษา ด้านการพัฒนาอารมณ์ ด้านการพัฒนาสมรรถนะทางด้านสังคม และด้านการพัฒนา สมรรถนะทางด้านร่างกาย อยู่ในระดับปานกลาง \n2. การรับรู้บทบาท การเตรียมอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษา นโยบายและการบริหาร สภาพการทำงาน ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างผู้ร่วมงาน ผลตอบแทน และการรับภาระงาน มีความสัมพันธ์ทางบวกกับการ ปฏิบัติบทบาทอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์พยาบาล อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 \n3. ตัวแปรที่ร่วมกันพยากรณ์การปฏิบัติบทบาทอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์พยาบาล อย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 ตามลำดับ คือ การรับรู้บทบาท การเตรียมอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษา และสภาพการทำงาน ซึ่งร่วมกันพยากรณ์การปฏิบัติบทบาทอาจารย์ที่ปรึกษาของอาจารย์พยาบาลได้ \nร้อยละ 19.87

การวิจัยนี้เป็นการศึกษาวิเคราะห์เปรียบเทียบสัมพันธภาพเชิงช่วยเหลือนักศึกษาพยาบาล ขณะฝึกปฏิบัติงานในคลินิกของอาจารย์พยาบาล วิทยาลัยพยาบาลภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ สังกัดกระทรวงสาธารณสุข กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ อาจารย์พยาบาล จำนวน 46 คน ที่นิเทศนักศึกษาในคลินิก จากวิทยาลัยพยาบาล 4 แห่ง ได้มาจากการสุ่มอย่างง่าย เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยประกอบด้วย แบบสอบถาม แบบบันทึกการสังเกต และคู่มือการวิเคราะห์สัมพันธภาพเชิงช่วยเหลือ \nผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ว่า สัมพันธภาพเชิงช่วยเหลือนักศึกษาพยาบาลขณะฝึกปฏิบัติงานในคลินิกของอาจารย์พยาบาล โดยรวมและรายด้านมีความเหมาะสมในระดับปานกลาง ยกเว้น ด้านการเป็นแบบอย่าง มีความเหมาะสมอยู่ในระดับน้อย สัมพันธภาพเชิงช่วยเหลือนักศึกษาพยาบาล ขณะฝึกปฏิบัติงานในคลินิกของอาจารย์พยาบาล จำแนกตามอายุ วุฒิทางการศึกษา และประสบการณ์ ในการปฏิบัติงานไม่แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 แต่ถ้าจำแนกตามภาควิชาการ พยาบาลและตามการอบรมครูคลินิก แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05

การวิจัยแบบกึ่งทดลองครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและเปรียบเทียบความตั้งใจกระทําพฤติกรรมจริยธรรมในการปฏิบัติการพยาบาลสูติศาสตร์ของนักศึกษาพยาบาลก่อน และการสอนโดย ใช้กรณีศึกษาและระหว่างนักศึกษากลุ่มที่ได้รับการสอนโดยใช้กรณีศึกษากับกลุ่มที่ได้รับการสอนโดยวิธีการสอนแบบปกติ \nกลุ่มตัวอย่างเป็นนักศึกษาพยาบาลตํารวจปีที่ 3 แบ่งกลุ่มตามประสบการณ์การขึ้นฝึก ปฏิบัติงานบนหอผู้ป่วยและเกรดเฉลี่ยสะสม (G.P.A.) สุ่มเป็นกลุ่มทดลอง 30 คน กลุ่มควบคุม 30 คน กลุ่มทดลองได้รับการสอนโดยใช้กรณีศึกษาสัปดาห์ละ 2 ชั่วโมง รวม 8 ชั่วโมง ส่วนกลุ่มควบคุมได้ รับการสอนโดยวิธีการสอนแบบปกติ เครื่องมือวิจัยคือแบบวัดความตั้งใจกระทำพฤติกรรมจริยธรรม \nที่ผู้วิจัยสร้างขึ้น และตรวจสอบความตรงตามเนื้อหาค่าความเที่ยงของแบบวัด เท่ากับ 72 วิเคราะห์ ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติทดสอบค่าที \nผลการวิจัยที่สำคัญมีดังนี้ \n1. ความตั้งใจกระทําพฤติกรรมจริยธรรมในการปฏิบัติการพยายามสูติศาสตร์ของนักศึกษา \nพยาบาลภายหลังการสอนโดยใช้กรณีศึกษา สูงกว่าก่อนได้รับการสอนอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ \nระดับ .05 \n2. ความตั้งใจกระทำพฤติกรรมจริยธรรมในการปฏิบัติการพยาบาลสูติศาสตร์ของนักศึกษา พยาบาล ในกลุ่มทดลองสูงกว่ากลุ่มควบคุม อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05

The purpose of this study was to determine if student nurses needed more education about domestic violence. Nurses, more than any other profession, are frequently in a position to identify and assist the victims of abuse. Presently, however, rather than addressing the hidden problem of family violence, nurses may inadvertently contribute to it, due to their lack of awareness and knowledge. Nurses, including student nurses, need to fine tune their knowledge in order to recognize the signs and symptoms surrounding family violence. Once identified, it will take an expanded level of awareness and enhanced skills to deal effectively with this …

Immune responses to an academic stressor were examined in healthy and asthmatic adolescents with regard to their illness symptom reports. Eighty-seven high school students completed a health diary for 2 weeks and provided three blood samples during midsemester, final-exam, and postexam periods. During exam week, all students showed significant immunological alterations from baseline: Natural killer cell activity was significantly lower, whereas lymphocyte proliferation and neutrophil superoxide release were significantly higher. These immune changes tended to return toward baseline during the postexam period, but the enhanced neutrophil reactivity continued to rise. Overall, immunological responses were similar between asthmatic subjects and controls. …
