Online Versus Traditional End-Of-Life Care Education In Nursing: An Integrative Literature Review, Emily Wolff
Online Versus Traditional End-Of-Life Care Education In Nursing: An Integrative Literature Review, Emily Wolff
Grace Peterson Nursing Research Colloquium
Abstract
Background: Professional nurses spend more time with patients who are dying than any other health care professional. However, studies show that nurses feel unprepared, or unequipped, to provide adequate end-of-life (EOL) care to these patients, which has directed many organizations to dedicate resources to the development of effective EOL care education programs. The most effective and efficient method for EOL care education delivery is yet to be determined.
Objectives: The purpose of this integrative literature review is to examine the existing research regarding the efficacies of online and traditional EOL care education methods for professional nurses because the reported …

Adolescent Substance Abuse Patients Within The Therapeutic Alliance: An Integrative Literature Review, Emily Decker
Grace Peterson Nursing Research Colloquium
Background: Adolescent patients with substance use disorders (SUD) struggle with seeking treatment, staying motivated during treatment, and are at a higher risk of relapse following treatment compared with other SUD patients. A positive therapeutic alliance between provider and patient has been shown to positively affect treatment outcomes. Therefore, describing interpersonal patient traits which influence this alliance is integral to keeping patients in treatment and preventing relapse post-treatment.
Objectives: The purpose of this integrative review was to identify interpersonal characteristics of adolescent patients with a substance use disorder which can significantly influence their therapeutic alliance with the provider, ultimately leading to …

Tertiary Interventions For Child Survivors Of Adverse Childhood Experiences, William Shuman
Tertiary Interventions For Child Survivors Of Adverse Childhood Experiences, William Shuman
Grace Peterson Nursing Research Colloquium
Abstract
Background: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) have been shown to have long term detrimental effects on health of those who experience them. There is research that links ACEs and poor health outcomes, some of which are caused by health harming behaviors, which are more common in those who experience ACEs. Intervening early and through teaching appropriate coping strategies to children who experience ACEs could be a way to decrease their poor health outcomes.
Objectives: The purpose of this integrative review of the literature was to find research conducted regarding tertiary evidence-based practice interventions nursing professionals can use to help children …
