Patients on mechanical ventilation often have no memory of events while being ventilated. In addition, families during this time, are often overwhelmed and unable to retain information provided to them by caregivers.

In attempt to address these issues, a team of care providers in an tertiary academic hospital established a goal to create a mechanical educational brochure with the goal to reduce associated anxiety and improve overall understanding of information provided.

Purpose: This descriptive study investigated the mediating and moderating effects of fear of fall on the relationships between health belief on fall, fall-related knowledge and fall prevention behaviors among older adults Methods: We enrolled 229 older adults residing in a senior citizen hall and community welfare center, and investigated their health belief on fall, fall-related knowledge, fall prevention behavior, and fear of fall. Obesity is a national epidemic that affects approximately 40% of adult Americans. A lack of advanced practitioner (AP) knowledge about obesity and follow-up may contribute to the obesity epidemic. Diagnosing obesity and beginning prompt weight loss (WL) management with the aim to prevent the development or progression of chronic illnesses associated with obesity is imperative. Purpose: Home visits, once a popular but now uncommon form of health care delivery, are on the rise. Few studies have focused on the value the experience brings to resident physicians and their patients.

Methods: A 6-month pilot was conducted with 11 residents who participated in 32 home visits with 11 patients. Patient and resident experiences were captured through a survey following the home visits.

Results: In all, 100% of patients and a majority of residents were very interested in being a part of and incorporating future home visits, respectively. Every patient in the survey said that the visits resulted …

The use of telehealth to improve access has become an essential competency for nurse practitioner (NP) students. This study evaluated NP students’ confidence and competence of rural social determinants of health (rSDOH) before and after a telehealth simulation.

Decreased self-confidence is seen in nursing students who experience nursing-faculty-to-nursing-student-incivility and in new-graduate-nurses during their transition to practice. Using a quantitative correlational design, I examined the relationship between nursing-faculty-to-nursing-student incivility and new-graduate-nurse self-confidence including the extent to which the relationship exists and whether the relationship existed for some groups more than others, specifically male and female nurses, and nurses who graduated from associate’s degree and Bachelor of Science programs. The project was guided by an integrative framework of the educational collaborative model, constructivism and situated learning theory. Heart failure (HF) is one of the leading causes of hospitalization among patients over the age of 65 years. Many are transitioned to skilled nursing facilities (SNF) following hospital discharge. HF-specific SNF staff education was designed for early detection of changes and improved management of this patient population. Computer-based education modules and hands on skill demonstration stations were created to provide basic HF knowledge and specific guideline recommended care measures for the SNF environment. Guided by the Transitional Theory, this study investigates the factors that influence the transition from basic to advanced roles among RN to BSN nurses in Uganda, Africa.
