Posttraumatic Growth In Women With A Long-Standing Experience Of Involuntary Childlessness In The Czech Republic, Gabriela Ďurašková, Brennan Peterson

This qualitative research study aimed to examine aspects of posttraumatic growth (PTG) in women with a long-standing experience of involuntary childlessness. In-depth semi-structured interviews, lasting an average of 53 min, were conducted in the Czech Republic. Twenty-four women, averaging 38.8 years old with an average of 6.2 years of infertility experience, participated. They were asked how involuntary childlessness affected/changed their partnerships, sexual life, job, future plans, attitude to children/values/faith, and leisure time. Participants shared both positive and negative aspects of the infertility experience. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Transgender/non-binary experiences and identities are often represented in academic literature through narratives of distress and are often pathologized through a medical lens. This holds implications for the field of psychotherapy, as interventions aimed to support transgender/nonbinary individuals often focus solely on risk mitigation. This article presents a therapeutic framework that rests on three pillars—Play, Pleasure, and Possibility—as the focal points for reimagining work with transgender/non-binary clients. This model aims to help this population explore gender transition with more ease through building practical skills, cultivating personal and collective pride, and centering pleasure equity.

Focusing on Joseph Conrad’s Nostromo, this essay historicizes the treatment of what we now call post-traumatic stress disorder, demonstrating how Conrad anticipated our current understanding and treatment of the illness. The second part of the essay addresses Nostromo’s treatment of historiography. Part three is concerned with epistemology and the relationship between neurological discoveries concerning the gap between perception and consciousness, relating those discoveries to Conrad’s use of delayed decoding.

While there has been a lot of debate over the impact of online and remote learning on mental health and well-being, there has been no systematic syntheses or reviews of the research on this particular issue. In this paper, we review the research on the relationship between mental health / well-being and online or remote learning. Our review shows that little scholarship existed prior to 2020 with most studies conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Though fibroadenomas are clinically benign in most cases, clinical research suggests that these lesions can cause diagnosis-related physical health complications and psychological distress. However, this research is limited and should be investigated further. Thus, this study aimed to explore how patients appraise their fibroadenoma diagnosis uncertainty. Additionally, this study sought to determine if a correlation existed between appraisal and decision making as well as identify the factors that influence the most common treatment decision: removal. ภาวะซึมเศร้าถือเป็นปัญหาทางสุขภาพจิตที่พบได้ในผู้สูงอายุ ผู้ที่อยู่ในวัยนี้ต้องเผชิญกับความเสื่อมจากกระบวนการของความชราภาพและวิกฤตต่าง ๆ ในชีวิต หากสามารถปรับตัวได้เพียงจำกัดหรือเลือกใช้รูปแบบการป้องกันทางจิตที่ไม่เหมาะสม นั่นอาจนำไปสู่การเกิดภาวะซึมเศร้าในผู้สูงอายุได้ โดยการศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสำรวจความชุกของภาวะซึมเศร้า รูปแบบการป้องกันทางจิต และปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องของผู้สูงอายุในชมรมผู้สูงอายุ ศูนย์บริการสาธารณสุข 7 กรุงเทพมหานคร เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากผู้สูงอายุ 129 คน ในศูนย์บริการสาธารณสุข 7 กรุงเทพมหานคร โดยขอให้อาสาสมัครตอบชุดแบบสอบถามที่ประกอบด้วย แบบประเมินรูปแบบการป้องกันทางจิต (DSQ–60) แบบวัดภาวะซึมเศร้าในผู้สูงอายุไทย (TGDS–30) แบบสอบถามการมีส่วนร่วมในสังคมของผู้สูงอายุ แบบสอบถามเหตุการณ์ความเครียดในชีวิตในช่วง 1 ปี และแบบประเมินความสามารถในการปฏิบัติกิจวัตรประจำวัน (Chula ADL Index) โดยผลการศึกษาจากกลุ่มตัวอย่างพบผู้สูงอายุมีภาวะซึมเศร้าร้อยละ 9.3 สำหรับรูปแบบการป้องกันทางจิตที่ถูกใช้บ่อยที่สุด คือ adaptive defense mechanisms โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งรูปแบบ altruism และ sublimation กลไกการป้องกันทางจิตแบบปรับตัวได้นี้มีความสัมพันธ์เชิงลบกับภาวะซึมเศร้า อีกทั้งการเป็นเพศชาย มีโรคทางจิตเวช มีการพึ่งพิงในการปฏิบัติกิจวัตรประจำวัน ระดับปานกลาง มีความเครียดในชีวิตด้านเศรษฐกิจในระดับปานกลางถึงสูงและด้านสังคมในระดับสูง มักเลือกใช้การป้องกันทางจิตรูปแบบ passive–aggression หรือ reaction formation และการไม่ค่อยได้ใช้การป้องกันทางจิตรูปแบบ sublimation สามารถทำนายภาวะซึมเศร้าในกลุ่มตัวอย่างนี้ได้อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ โดยสรุปหนึ่งในสิบของผู้สูงอายุในการศึกษานี้มีภาวะซึมเศร้าเมื่อเทียบกับผลการวิจัยก่อนหน้านี้ เกือบทั้งหมดของกลุ่มตัวอย่างเลือกใช้การป้องกันทางจิตแบบ adaptive defense styles ซึ่งช่วยลดความเสี่ยงต่อการเกิดภาวะซึมเศร้า ดังนั้นควรมีการนำปัจจัยตัวความเครียดทางจิตใจสังคมในช่วงที่ผ่านมาและประวัติการเจ็บป่วยทางจิตเวชมาใช้คัดกรอง อีกทั้งส่งเสริมการใช้การป้องกันทางจิตแบบปรับตัวได้จะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อการป้องกันภาวะซึมเศร้าเพื่อใช้ดูแลผู้สูงอายุในชมรมผู้สูงอายุ

วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อทำการศึกษาสุขภาพจิต การเผชิญความเครียด การสนับสนุนทางสังคม และการฟื้นคืนพลังของนักบินพาณิชย์ในประเทศไทย รวมถึงความเกี่ยวข้องกันของสุขภาพจิตและปัจจัยดังกล่าวข้างต้นในช่วงสถานการณ์การแพร่ระบาดของโรคโควิด-19 การศึกษานี้เป็นการศึกษาเชิงพรรณนา ณ ช่วงเวลาใดเวลาหนึ่ง จากกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่เป็นนักบินพาณิชย์สายการบินไทยแอร์เอเชียและไทยแอร์เอเชียเอ็กซ์จำนวน 380 คน ตั้งแต่เดือนพฤษภาคมถึงเดือนกันยายน 2565 โดยผู้เข้าร่วมการศึกษาตอบแบบสอบถามด้วยตัวเองออนไลน์ผ่าน Google form โดยมีคำถาม 7 ส่วน ได้แก่ 1) แบบสอบถามข้อมูลส่วนบุคคล 2) แบบสอบถามข้อมูลด้านการทำงาน 3) แบบสอบถามผลกระทบที่นักบินพาณิชย์ได้รับจากสถานการณ์การแพร่ระบาดของโรคโควิด-19 4) แบบสอบถามการเผชิญความเครียด 5) แบบประเมินการสนับสนุนทางสังคม 6) แบบประเมินการฟื้นคืนพลัง นำเสนอเป็นค่าเฉลี่ยน ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และร้อยละ ทำการวิเคราะห์ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสุขภาพจิตกับปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องด้านต่าง ๆโดยใช้การทดสอบไคสแควร์ หลังจากนั้นทำการวิเคราะห์ความถดถอยลอจิสติกเพื่อหาปัจจัยทำนายสุขภาพจิตที่ผิดปกติของนักบินพาณิชย์สายการบินไทยแอร์เอเชียและไทยแอร์เอเชียเอ็กซ์ โดยกำหนดนัยสำคัญทางสถิติไว้ที่ระดับน้อยกว่า 0.05 ผลการศึกษา พบว่านักบินพาณิชย์สายการบินไทยแอร์เอเชียและไทยแอร์เอเชียเอ็กซ์ส่วนใหญ่(ร้อยละ 53.2) มีสุขภาพจิตผิดปกติในช่วงที่มีการระบาดของโรคโควิด-19 โดยมีคะแนนเฉลี่ยสุขภาพจิตเท่ากับ 6.59±6.93 ปัจจัยที่มีความสัมพันธ์กับสุขภาพจิตผิดปกติ ได้แก่สถานภาพโสด หย่าร้าง หม้าย(p<0.05) รายได้โดยประมาณที่ลดลงระหว่างสถานการณ์การระบาดของโรคโควิด-19(p<0.01) ภาระหนี้สิน(p<0.01) การมีโรคทางจิตเวช(p<0.01) สังกัดสายการบินไทยแอร์เอเชียเอ๊กซ์(p<0.01) ได้รับผลกระทบโดยรวม(p<0.01) ได้รับผลกระทบด้านครอบครัว(p<0.001) ได้ผลกระทบด้านสัมพันธภาพ(<0.001) ได้ผลกระทบด้านการประกอบกิจวัตรประจำวัน(p<0.01) ได้รับผลกระทบด้านการทำงานและการประกอบอาชีพ(p<0.01) ได้รับผลกระทบด้านการเงินและเศรษฐกิจ(p<0.01) ได้รับผลกระทบด้านสุขภาพและสุขภาวะ(p<0.01) มีการเผชิญความเครียดด้านการจัดการอารมณ์ปานกลางถึงสูง(p<0.01) การสนับสนุนทางสังคมด้านทรัพยากรและวัตถุต่ำ(p<0.01) การสนับสนุนทางสังคมโดยรวมต่ำ(p<0.05) การฟื้นคืนพลังด้านความทนต่อแรงกดดันต่ำ(p<0.01) การฟื้นคืนพลังด้านการมีความหวังและกำลังใจต่ำ(p<0.01) การฟื้นคืนพลังด้านการต่อสู้เอาชนะอุปสรรคต่ำ(p<0.01) และการฟื้นคืนพลังโดยรวมต่ำ(p<0.01) สรุปผลการศึกษา พบปัจจัยสัมพันธ์ที่เป็นปัจจัยทำนายกับสุขภาพจิตผิดปกติได้แก่ ภาระหนี้สิน การสังกัดสายการบินไทยแอร์เอเชียเอ๊กซ์ ได้ผลกระทบด้านการประกอบกิจวัตรประจำวันระดับปานกลางถึงสูง มีเผชิญความเครียดด้านการจัดการอารมณ์ในระดับปานกลางถึงสูง ได้รับการสนับสนุนทางสังคมด้านทรัพยากรและวัตถุต่ำ มีการฟื้นคืนพลังด้านความทนต่อแรงกดดันต่ำกว่าเกณฑ์ปกติ และการฟื้นคืนพลังด้านการมีความหวังและกำลังใจต่ำกว่าเกณฑ์ปกติ

By magnifying gender- and socioeconomic status-based inequalities, the COVID-19 pandemic caused stress and disrupted career progress for professional students. The present work investigated the impact of pandemic-related stress and prevailing barriers on structurally disadvantaged women preparing for a high-stakes professional exam. In Study 1, we found that among US law students preparing for the October 2020 California Bar Exam—the professional exam that enables one to become a practicing attorney in California—first-generation women reported the greatest stress from pandemic-related burdens and underperformed on the exam relative to others overall, and particularly compared to continuing-generation women. It has been well documented over the years that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/ questioning (LGBTQ+) populations are disproportionately affected by a higher burden of mental health illnesses, alcohol abuse, and illicit substance abuse when compared to heterosexual populations. Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) has historically been regarded as a strong contraindication for cosmetic plastic surgery. New research now suggests that the contraindications to cosmetic surgery in patients with BDD may not be so absolute. This paper reviews diagnostic criteria, diagnostic challenges, and current standard of treatment of BDD. It then presents the idea of insight analysis in the BDD patient as a significant factor in determining if patients with BDD may or may not benefit from cosmetic surgery or procedures.

In this project we completed a deep dive into how the Covid-19 pandemic reshaped our mental health and has affected our preparation for careers as registered nurses through a series of auto- ethnographic narrative journals using scholarly articles to support this idea. By utilizing personal narratives, we analyzed and reflected upon the cognitive and mental changes we experienced throughout this pandemic. We fulfilled this by comprising two personal narratives with inquiries pertaining to each shared narrative by utilizing the common themes of being nursing students and living through a pandemic. The circadian clock is a fundamental biological mechanism that orchestrates essential cellular and physiological processes to optimize fitness and health. The basic functional unit is the cell-autonomous oscillator, consisting of intersecting negative feedback loops. Whereas the core loop is primarily responsible for rhythm generation, auxiliary loops, most notably the secondary or stabilization loop, play pivotal roles to confer temporal precision and molecular robustness.
