BACKGROUND: Sport-related concussion (SRC) increases the risk of subsequent musculoskeletal injury, yet the mechanisms underlying this vulnerability remain unclear. Fear of movement (kinesiophobia) may contribute to impaired motor control.

PURPOSE: This study examined kinesiophobia and postural stability in adolescent athletes at return-to-play (RTP) after SRC and evaluated changes six months later.

DESIGN: Observational analytical study with cross-sectional (case-control) and prospective cohort components.

BACKGROUND: The diagnosis of atrial fibrillation (AF) is increasing among elite athletes. This case highlights the novel use of an implantable loop recorder to guide treatment decisions for AF in an elite soccer player.

CASE SUMMARY: A 25-year-old professional soccer player who had received a diagnosis of asymptomatic AF during routine screening underwent cardioversion and continuous monitoring with an implantable loop recorder. A rising AF burden prompted ablation.

The vertical jump (VJ) is one of the most important movements for basketball athletes and therefore determining modifiable predictors of the VJ would aid substantially in crafting more effective training regimens. The purpose of this study was to determine if isokinetic quadriceps strength and torque predict VJ height and which characteristics and testing speed is the strongest predictor of VJ height. Acetabular labral tears have shown to be difficult to diagnose and manage in an active and competitive athletic population. The goal of this study was to compare NCAA Division 1 collegiate athletes undergoing operative and non-operative management of their labral injuries by assessing ability to return to competition and secondarily evaluate days lost from sport. A retrospective cohort analysis was conducted on Division 1 collegiate athletes from 2005 to 2020, incorporating all varsity university sports. BACKGROUND: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is extremely common among athletes. Rate of second ACL injury due to surgical graft rupture or contralateral limb ACL injury is approximately 15-32%. Psychological readiness to return to sport (RTS) may be an important predictor of successful RTS outcomes. Psychological readiness can be quantified using the ACL Return to Sport after Injury (ACL-RSI) questionnaire, with higher scores demonstrating greater psychological readiness.

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to determine the impact of agitation, storage temperature, and storage time on urine osmolality compared to the criterion control.
