The Effects Of Moderate-Severe Plaque Psoriasis On Patient Well-Being And Prevention Of Flares, Glenn Devera Dec 2020

The Effects Of Moderate-Severe Plaque Psoriasis On Patient Well-Being And Prevention Of Flares, Glenn Devera

Nursing | Senior Theses

Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that is indicated by red, patchy and scaly skin that can be painful when irritated. Patients with psoriasis have an increased risk for a number of chronic diseases. Despite the expansion of treatments for moderate-to-severe psoriasis over the last decade, patients may still find that treatment strategies are not as successful, leaving them dissatisfied with their treatments. A relationship built upon trust between the nurse and the patient diagnosed with psoriasis may serve to help ensure optimal care. A comprehensive literature review was performed and found that best practices for patient management need to …

Effectiveness Of High-Fidelity Simulation In Training Emergency Medicine Physicians In Point Of Care Ultrasonography In Pakistan: A Quasi-Experimental Study, Kiran Azizi, Madiha Ismail, Umaira Aftab, Badar Afzal Khan, Asad Mian

Department of Emergency Medicine

Background: Point-of-care ultrasound (PoCUS) is frequently utilized in emergency medicine (EM), with an extended-focused assessment with sonography in trauma (e-FAST) being the most widely used PoCUS modality. This modality is not only time- and cost-efficient, but it is highly accurate in the diagnosis and management of surgical patients in the emergency department, as well as being highly predictive of patient outcomes. Targeted training is essential to ensure a learner's confidence in image acquisition, interpretation, and translation of knowledge to making clinical decisions. High-fidelity simulation offers a uniquely safe and "mistake-forgiving" environment to teach and train medical professionals. The present study …

Reading Room Assistance Pilot: Improving Radiologist Workflow, Michael Hoy, Md, Christopher G. Roth, Md, Ms-Hqs, Rashmi Balasubramanya, Md

House Staff Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Conference (2020-)

Aims for Improvement

Our aim for improvement was to find ways to decrease distractions and phone calls in the body radiology reading room and to convert unpredictable and “immediate-response distractions” to “managed distractions” that can be addressed without aborting patient care/case interpretation immediately and unnecessarily. The goal was to decrease interruptions which would allow more time to be spent on reading cases, learning, and teaching. One metric that we identified was the number of phone calls to the reading room, which we intend to decrease by 50% within the first quarter. Another metric was the radiology attending and resident attitudes …

Scanning For Qi: Outcomes From A Resident And Sonographer Driven Improvement Of Radiology Resident Ultrasound Technique, Brian Blumhof, Md, Corinne Wessner, Bs, Rdms, Rvt, Kristen Mcclure, Md May 2020

Scanning For Qi: Outcomes From A Resident And Sonographer Driven Improvement Of Radiology Resident Ultrasound Technique, Brian Blumhof, Md, Corinne Wessner, Bs, Rdms, Rvt, Kristen Mcclure, Md

House Staff Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Conference (2020-)

Objective

The aim of this structural quality improvement (QI) project was to improve the educational ultrasound curriculum.

We created the pilot for an enduring addition to the radiology residency at Jefferson, with plans to include additional ultrasound examinations as the curriculum becomes more robust.

Stakeholders included not only the radiology residency, which would benefit from improved resident education and knowledge, but also the hospital and ultimately patients, who stand to benefit from improved delivery of care.

House Staff Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Conference (2020-)

Study Aims

  • To create an interdisciplinary task force focused on identifying women with CVD by reporting presence of BAC on screening mammograms.
  • To monitor the clinical impact of reporting BAC.

Pediatric Chest X-Rays, Liam Du Preez

Larner College of Medicine Fourth Year Advanced Integration Teaching/Scholarly Projects

Chest Radiographs are the most commonly ordered diagnostic image in the pediatric population. These images are encountered often in both the early medical school curriculum and outside in the clinical setting. This module was generated with the goals of giving a framework for approaching pediatric chest x-rays, as well as showcasing common radiographic findings, both normal and pathologic.
