The current literature does not have an established association of HPV with solitary keratoacanthomas. This case report explores the presentation and pathogenesis of solitary keratoacanthomas within the setting of HPV.

Case Presentation: 48-year-old Caucasian female …

The screening for pre-invasive cervical lesions has significantly decreased the incidence of cervical neoplasm. It is recommended to be performed starting with the age of 21 with a frequency of 3-5 years and it consists of pap smear testing and HPV genotyping, and, if required, it can be continued with colposcopy or biopsy followed by pathological assessment. The importance of the early diagnosis of pre-invasive cervical lesions has led to several studies on this topic. The paper analyzed the modern literature published on the PubMed and Scopus databases. Reference studies have found that most intraepithelial lesions are caused by the …

Family Medicine Clerkship Student Projects

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is currently the most prevalent sexually transmitted infection in the United States with an estimated 79 million people infected. In the state of Connecticut, HPV vaccination is not required for entrance into the 9th grade and because of this, there is less awareness of the importance of HPV prevention and immunization among high school students. As of 2013, 37.7-49.9% of females ages 13-17 living in Connecticut completed the HPV vaccine regimen. My objective for this project was to promote awareness about HPV infection and HPV vaccination among high school students.
