This review aimed to explore the relationship between malnutrition and oral health in adolescents.

A literature search in PubMed, Dentistry & Oral Sciences Source, Scopus, and Web of Science was conducted on September 13th, 2023. Peer-reviewed articles written in English and published from 2013 containing information on the negative impact of adolescent malnutrition on oral health were considered eligible for review. From the 594 studies obtained from the literature search, 88 studies were included.

This scoping review aims to determine the extent and quality of evidence regarding prostate cancer progression outcomes in transgender women who have undergone hormone replacement therapy. Notably, transgender females undergoing hormone replacement therapy as a component of the gender affirmation treatment commonly have their prostate, rendering them vulnerable to developing prostate cancer. There is no current agreement about the likelihood of transgender women developing prostate cancer or the impact of hormone replacement therapy on oncogenic molecular pathways. The HIPPO signaling pathway plays a key role in cell proliferation and tumor suppression. It consists of serine/threonine kinase cascades, including MST1/2, LATS1/2, YAP, and TAZ. When the HIPPO pathway is activated, gene expression is altered. Dysfunction of the activity of this cascade may contribute to cancer development and chemoresistance. FAT4 is an intracellular protein that may regulate the HIPPO signaling. The purpose of this study is to determine the relative changes of mRNA of the HIPPO pathway members and FAT4 in doxorubicin-treated and vehicle-treated in vitro cell lines.

Background: Hypertension (HTN) that is not adequately controlled leads to cardiovascular disease, stroke, and heart disease. It affects 116 million adults (47%) in the United States (U.S.). The HTN compliance rate in a South Texas public health clinic was 64%, below the national benchmark of 76%. Home blood pressure monitoring (HBPM) was recommended in a joint statement by the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Medical Association (AMA). Literature evidence revealed that the HBPM bundle increased BP control (< 140/90 mmHg) compliance.

Background: Schwannomas, benign tumors arising from Schwann cells, often manifest as slow-growing lesions in the peripheral nerve sheath. While typically asymptomatic, they can affect cranial and peripheral nerves. Surgical excision is the primary treatment, but preserving nerve function poses challenges.

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 12 cases of benign head and neck schwannomas diagnosed at Department of ENT, SCB Medical College, Orissa, India between 2021 and 2023. Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is a complex autonomic disorder characterized by abnormal tachycardia on standing. This disorder predominantly affects young women, with a peak incidence between ages 20 and 30 years. POTS often is associated with a variety of symptoms, including dizziness, palpitations, fatigue, generalized weakness, anxiety, and exercise intolerance, which can significantly impair patient quality of life. OBJECTIVE: Using health records from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the largest healthcare training platform in the United States, we estimated independent associations between the intensity of attending supervision of surgical residents and 30-day postoperation patient outcomes.

Background: Early childhood home visiting programs have variable outcomes on child health across models and studies. Given this variability, novel approaches are needed to foster consistent positive outcomes. One approach is attendance of a home visitor (HV) at medical provider well child checks (WCCs) to provide a stronger link between home visiting and the medical home. The Patient Self-Determination Act (PSDA) of 1991 mandates only certain facilities to discuss advanced care planning (ACP). Primary care offices are not included in this mandate. Detection is a critical first step to ending the HIV epidemic and the CDC recommends universal HIV screening for all patients 13-64 years of age regardless of risk factors.
