Research on NICU experiences largely focuses on majority-language families; non-English-speaking families are understudied (Cleveland, 2008). The Family Integrated Care model promotes parent-infant connection and shared decision-making to improve outcomes (Wreesmann et al., 2020). Language barriers impede parent-provider communication, increasing miscommunication and parental anxiety (Kynoe et al., 2020; Ardal et al., 2011). The purpose of this research is to explore communication experiences and barriers between English-speaking and bilingual NICU nurses and a Spanish-speaking NICU mother.

Before children start to read, they develop skills that involve increasing their rhyming, alphabet, and vocabulary knowledge. Introduction: School anxiety is common among adolescents with chronic pain and often impacts academic and social functioning. Existing anxiety measures lack specificity for capturing the unique sources and symptoms of school-related anxiety in this population. To address this gap, a bank of new potential measure items (the School Anxiety Inventory for Chronic Pain [SAI-CP]), was developed based on the original School Anxiety Inventory (SAI), qualitative interviews with adolescents with chronic pain, and expert clinician input. Background: Our CLABSI improvement team developed high-risk rounding processes on the Hematology/Oncology unit. Expanding this model to additional Med/Surg units was challenging due to limited staffing and time-intensive tasks required during rounds. Concurrently, CLABSI rates across other Med/Surg units increased, necessitating a scalable approach. Objectives: Apparent Cause Analysis (ACA) review in Med/Surg units identified an opportunity to strengthen surveillance by engaging Vascular Access subject-matter experts. Our proactive high-risk rounds pilot led to CLABSI rate reduction. The objective was to expand service coverage without compromising established high-risk rounding quality standards. Groove ‘n’ Grow is a structured pediatric occupational therapy group program designed to improve social participation, engagement, and sensory regulation in children with developmental and sensory processing differences through dance and movement-based activities. The program was developed as part of an occupational therapy doctoral capstone project and implemented within a pediatric outpatient therapy clinic.
