Case Of Rosai Dorfman Disease In A Patient With Newly Diagnosed Hodgkin Lymphoma, Liza Salloum, Jennifer Rojas Huen, Ricardo Serna, Alisha Valdez

Research Symposium

Background: Rosai Dorfman Disease (RDD, also known as sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy) is a rare non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis, classified into nodal (classic) and extranodal disease. Most patients present with non-tender cervical lymphadenopathy, although other sites including the inguinal and axillary regions have been reported. Extranodal disease (~43% of cases) can involve any organ system. RDD is more common in children, but cases have been reported in patients in their 70s. The prognosis of nodal RDD can correlate with the number of nodal groups involved. Many cases can be managed only with observation, although surgery, chemotherapy, corticosteroids, and immunomodulators have …

Background; Sinonasal neoplasms, whether benign and malignant, pose a significant challenge to clinicians and represent a model area for multidisciplinary collaboration in order to optimize patient care. The International Consensus Statement on Allergy and Rhinology; Sinonasal Tumors (ICSNT) aims to summarize the best available evidence and presents 48 thematic and histopathology-based topics spanning the field. Methods; In accordance with prior International Consensus Statement on Allergy and Rhinology documents, ICSNT assigned each topic as an Evidence-Based Review with Recommendations, Evidence-Based Review, and Literature Review based on the level of evidence. An international group of multidisciplinary author teams were assembled for the …

Breast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma: A Case Report, Jennie Tan, Jamie Johnson-Eddy, Wesley Tang, Yanchun Li Dec 2022

Breast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma: A Case Report, Jennie Tan, Jamie Johnson-Eddy, Wesley Tang, Yanchun Li

Cooper Rowan Medical Journal

This report aims to review a case of breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) by comparing the patient's course with the current literature.

BIA-ALCL is a specific type of T-cell lymphoma that can develop after breast implantation, but has only recently been recognized within the last decade. Although overall rare, certain types of breast implants have increased association with developing subsequent lymphoma. This case occurred after mastectomy with breast reconstruction for unilateral invasive ductal carcinoma with a textured, saline Allergan breast implant. BIA-ALCL manifested and was symptomatic nine years after implantation.

Our Experience Of Treating Adult Bone Lymphoma, A Retrospective Cross-Sectional Study In A Tertiary Care Center, Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, Masood Umer, Muhammad Younus Khan Durrani, Javeria Saeed, Nasir Ud Din

Section of Orthopaedic Surgery

Objective: To determine the experience at the Aga Khan University Hospital in diagnosing and treating adult patients with primary lymphoma of bone.
Methodology: All patients with Primary lymphoma of bone (PLB) that were diagnosed and/or treated at Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi from 2005 to 2019 were included as part of this study.
Results: There were 17 patients with PLB including 13 (76.5%) males and 4 (23.5%) females with a mean age of 44 ± 16.5 years. Nine patients were between 30-59 years of age at diagnosis. The mean follow-up time of patients was 80±46.7 months. Six patients had tumours …

Increasing The Rate Of Excisional Lymph Node Biopsies At Easily Accessible Sites When Ruling Out Lymphoma, Catherine M. Tucker, Md, Xiangyun Ye, Christopher Gardner, Austin Redilla, Guldeep K. Uppal, Md, Adam F. Binder, Md

Health Equity and Quality Improvement (HEQI) Summit

The aim of this study is to increase the rate of excisional lymph node biopsies from 78% to 95% in patients presenting to the Center City campus with lymphadenopathy at easily accessible sites by September 2021.

Safety And Efficacy Of Bendamustine In The Conditioning Regimen For Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation In Patients With Relapsed/Refractory Lymphoma, Munira Moosajee, Samad Jehangir, Sobia Sawani, Tariq Muhammed, N. Ali, Usman Shaikh, Salman Adil Jun 2019

Ali, Usman Shaikh, Salman Adil

Section of Haematology/Oncology

Background: Bendamustine is an attractive option for the management of both de novo and relapsed lymphomas. It is being increasingly used in the conditioning regimen for autologous stem cell transplantation (SCT) and can be an alternative to the traditionally-used carmustine. In this study, we aimed to determine the safety and efficacy of bendamustine in the conditioning regimen for autologous SCT in refractory/relapsed lymphomas.
Methods: We designed a descriptive study to evaluate bendamustine in combination with etoposide, cytarabine, and melphalan (BeEAM) in the conditioning regimen for autologous SCT.
Results: Fourteen patients (median age, 28 yr) with Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) (N=8), non-Hodgkin's …

Purpose: B-cell lymphomas must acquire resistance to apoptosis during their development. We recently discovered BCLW, an antiapoptotic BCL2 family member thought only to contribute to spermatogenesis, was overexpressed in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and Burkitt lymphoma. To gain insight into the contribution of BCLW to B-cell lymphomas and its potential to confer resistance to BCL2 inhibitors, we investigated the expression of BCLW and the other antiapoptotic BCL2 family members in six different B-cell lymphomas. Experimental Design: We performed a large-scale gene expression analysis of datasets comprising approximately 2,300 lymphoma patient samples, including non-Hodgkin and Hodgkin lymphomas as well as …
