One quarter of all patients admitted to level I trauma centers receive transfused blood, and approximately 25% of trauma transfusion recipients are diagnosed with coagulopathies during the resuscitation process (Hess et al., 2008; Kutcher & Cohen, 2021; Maegele et al., 2007). Such pathologies have been associated with negative clinical outcomes such as increased transfusion requirements, organ failure, sepsis, and death. Hydralazine-induced vasculitis can be challenging to recognize and diagnose as presenting symptoms vary and can mimic other conditions or diseases, however, swift intervention and treatment is key in halting progression of the disease and providing patients with the best possible outcomes. A 71-year-old African American female presented to the emergency department with weakness, fatigue, anemia, blood-streaked sputum, fever, chills, and severe myalgias. Hydralazine was prescribed to treat resistant hypertension eight months prior to presentation. Hydralazine was discontinued on hospital day (HD) 4. Abstract

Background: Physical Activity (PA) during pregnancy is important to maintain optimal maternal and neonatal health. Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) requires close monitoring during pregnancy due to the health risk it can cause to mother and fetus. It is evident that PA can help improve maternal health outcomes to positively offer overall wellness throughout the pregnancy.

Objective: The purpose of this Quality Improvement Project (QIP) is to evaluate the impact of PA education on PA implementation during pregnancy and improve clinical practice for healthcare providers to introduce PA education during prenatal care per ACOG and CESP guidelines.

Objective: Post-translational protein modifications with malondialdehyde-acetaldehyde (MAA) and citrulline (CIT) are implicated in the pathogenesis of rheumatoidarthritis (RA). Although precise mechanisms have not been elucidated, macrophage-fibroblast interactions have been proposed to play a central role in the development and progression of RA. The purpose of our study was to evaluate the downstream effects of macrophage released soluble mediators, following stimulation with fibrinogen (FIB) modified antigens, on human fibroblast-like synoviocytes (HFLS).

Surgical resection of a breast tumor is frequently a treatment option for cancer, and in some cases can be curative (Hurtado et al., 2021). Multiple factors increase the risk of metastasis or recurrence including the neuroendocrine stress response to surgery and manipulation of the tumor itself (Kim, 2018). Additional factors include depression of cell-mediated immunity including sympathetic nervous system (SNS) stimulation, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis stimulation, and pain (Hurtado et al., 2021).
