Introduction: Studies have shown many genes influence antibiotic resistance, and the relationship between genotypic and phenotypic antibiotic resistance is unclear. We sought to analyze the concordance between the presence of antibiotic resistance (ABR) genes and antibiotic susceptibility results in urine samples collected from symptomatic UTI patients. Methods: Urine samples were collected from patients presenting with possible UTI to 37 geographically disparate Urology clinics from July 2018 to February 2019. Introduction: Research has shown that concussed youth are at increased risk of developing psychiatric symptoms as compared to non-concussed youth. Few studies, however, have detailed the presence and severity of acute depression and anxiety symptoms following a concussion in adolescents, specifically. Thus, the current study aims to describe depression and anxiety symptoms in concussed and non-concussed adolescents using validated measures of depression and anxiety.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has been previously linked to the development of hypertension, possibly through the proposed mechanism of recurrent episodes of intermittent hypoxia leading to endothelial dysfunction, inflammation, and metabolic dysregulation. This study aims to investigate continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, a first-line therapy for OSA, and its effects on blood pressure in patients with moderate to severe OSA. We hypothesize that compliance to CPAP leads to a decrease in average annual systolic and diastolic blood pressure, compared to noncompliant and non-CPAP use.

Pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) is a complex abdominal procedure with high rates of perioperative morbidity. The Whipple Accelerated Recovery Pathway (WARP) was developed for highly selected patients undergoing PD to reduce hospital length of stay (LOS) and time to adjuvant therapy (TTAT), without increasing post-operative complications (POC) or readmission rates (RR). This study was designed to qualitatively assess how these changes have impacted providers and staff in Jefferson’s primary care settings.

Non-Hispanic black women are disproportionately affected by higher rates of shorter interpregnancy intervals. The purpose of this study is to identify whether the Centering Pregnancy model of group prenatal care (GPC) can reduce this health disparity by increasing postpartum contraception receipt.

This retrospective chart analysis measures consistency in contraception intent versus actual postpartum receipt in populations of women who received either individual or GPC. The main predictors were: race, insurance type (public or private), marital status, and type of prenatal care. The relationship between racial disparities in occupational risk and lung cancer diagnosis is not well defined. We examined occupational exposure to asbestos, silica, and other workplace chemicals, fumes, or dusts as reported in the National Lung Screening Trial (NLST). Descriptive analyses and multivariate logistic regression models were performed. Among the NLST study cohort, 3.9% were diagnosed with lung cancer. African-Americans had a higher rate of lung cancer diagnosis than White individuals (4.3% vs. 3.9%). About 28% reported at least one occupational exposure, including 6.5% exposed to silica and 4.7% to asbestos. We present the case of an 86-year-old woman who suffered full-thickness soft tissue loss secondary to degloving injury to the lower left limb, resulting in an exposed tibia. This patient underwent drilling to create artificial fenestrations in the cortical bone followed by placement of Integra dermal regeneration template. The technique of drilling fenestrations to expose underlying vasculature of cortical bone has not previously been described in its relationship with Integra dermal regeneration templates in large degloving injuries of the lower limb.
