Spinal cord herniation (SCH) is a rare cause of myelopathy. When reported, SCH has most commonly been described as occurring spontaneously in the thoracic spine, and being idiopathic in nature (anterior thoracic spinal cord herniation, ATSCH) [1-3]. Several theories have been proposed to explain its occurrence, including congenital, inflammatory, and traumatic etiologies alike [1-4]. Even more rarely, SCH has been described to occur in the cervical spine in association with brachial plexus avulsion injuries (BPAI-SCH). Background: The role of race on functional outcomes after robotic partial nephrectomy (RPN) is still a matter of debate. We aimed to evaluate the clinical and pathologic characteristics of African American (AA) and Caucasian patients who underwent RPN and analyzed the association between race and functional outcomes.

Methods: Data was obtained from a multi-institutional database of patients who underwent RPN in 6 institutions in the USA. We identified 999 patients with complete clinical data. Sixty-three patients (6.3%) were AA, and each patient was matched (1:3) to Caucasian patients by age at surgery, gender, Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) and renal score. …

This study aims to observe the spectrum of Prenatal Diagnosis of Rare Genetic conditions at a Tertiary care hospital in Karachi. This is a retrospective review conducted at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi from January 2016 to July 2018. All cases undergoing invasive testing by Chorionic villus sampling for indications other than Thalassemia were included. Forty percent of patients in our cohort underwent invasive testing for muscular dystrophies particularly survival motor neuron (SMN) gene deletion and 32% for Cystic Fibrosis. In this paper, I give an overview of supply chains and then explore some of the challenges and potential solutions in delivering goods and services effectively and efficiently. The purpose of this study was to identify bottlenecks in the current processing system in the Eye Center at Hershey Penn State Medical Center. Data was obtained about patients arriving at the clinic for ancillary tests such as visual field testing and retinal imaging. Haemangioendotheliomas (HAE), although rare but are the most common parotid gland tumours in children. We report a 4-month-old girl who presented with a progressively enlarging right sided facial swelling overlying the angle of the mandible. An Ultrasound of the lesion and a computed tomography (CT) scan of the head and neck was carried out which revealed a large lesion within the right parotid gland. CT scan further demonstrated a direct communication with the right external carotid artery and external jugular vein. Deaf patients often struggle with accessing culturally competent care. Poor communication and inaccessible health information negatively impact Deaf individuals, resulting in poorer health outcomes and inappropriate health care use. To address this problem, the Family Medicine Department established the Deaf Health Clinic in 2015 through the efforts of healthcare providers fluent in American Sign Language. After that, the clinic faced several management issues, and implemented strategies to address them. The paper discusses lessons learned and suggests potential and tested solutions to reduce gaps in health care for Deaf individuals.

These arthropods transmit infectious pathogens such as viruses, protozoa, and bacteria, to humans during their blood-feeding. According to the estimation of the WHO, billions of people are affected by VBDs worldwide, and about 700,000 deaths are reported annually. SAIDO Learning is a cognitive and social intervention developed by the Kumon Institute in 2004 to slow the progress of symptoms in patients diagnosed with dementia. Today, twenty-three nursing facilities nationwide utilize SAIDO Learning. The data in this retrospective study compare the baseline Mini-Mental State Exam (MMSE) scores to the MMSE scores obtained six months after SAIDO Learning is implemented from patients diagnosed with dementia at Waterford Place in Jenison, Michigan. Here, we study the impact of bracing on short-term outcomes related to safety, quality of care, and direct costs in multilevel ACDF.
