Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of wearing the Apple Vision Pro (AVP), a mixed-reality headset that integrates augmented and virtual reality, while performing minimally invasive procedures. While studies have demonstrated that spatial computing technology can improve surgical precision and reduce the risks of surgical complications, to our knowledge, no studies have specifically addressed the impact of the AVP on task performance during simulated image-guided procedures.

Purpose: To evaluate operational trends in an interventional oncology practice at a tertiary academic center before and after the addition of hybrid angiography–computed tomography (Angio-CT) rooms.

Materials and Methods: The procedure volumes and types performed in the hybrid Angio-CT rooms were retrospectively collected from 2016 to 2020. Procedures were divided into categories, including arteriography, endovascular interventional oncology, ablation, venous intervention, non-vascular catheter placement (biliary, nephrostomy, gastrostomy, etc.), and osseous interventions. Procedural trends in the Angio-CT rooms and the frequencies of combination procedures that used both CT and angiography were assessed.

Background: Although three-fourths of cancer deaths are expected to occur in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) by 2030, most cancer research still comes from high-income countries. One barrier to cancer research in LMICs is lack of infrastructure for systematic data collection, including electronic medical record systems. Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly used in radiology to improve diagnostic accuracy and workflow efficiency; however, there is limited standardized research comparing its performance across imaging modalities. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy and efficiency of AI in X-ray, computed tomography (CT), and nuclear medicine. A systematic review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines, analyzing peer-reviewed studies published between 2015 and 2025. Data were extracted on key performance metrics, including sensitivity, specificity, interpretation time, and error rates, to enable cross-modality comparison. Nuclear medicine clinic needs have drastically changed with the emergence of theranostics, exciting new agents in the fight against cancer. However, administering these agents is a resource-intensive task, increasing demand for physician consultation time with patients, clinic office space, and scanner time. We examined our institution’s nuclear medicine clinic workflow and interviewed the clinic’s front desk staff, technologists, nurses, managers, physicians, and patients to find sources of delays, dissatisfaction, and decreased efficiency. Calcitonin injection is a high-cost medication used to treat hypercalcemia in hospitalized patients. Many institutions have implemented strategies to reduce unnecessary use or waste of calcitonin, including dose rounding, formulary restriction criteria, and limiting the number of doses a patient may receive. MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) utilizes approximately 1200 calcitonin doses per year with no current formulary or dosing restriction criteria. Accurate documentation of reasons for psychiatry consultations is critical for developing an effective treatment plan for the patient and improving quality of care through targeted interventions. The purpose of this project was to create an interactive dashboard on Power BI. We downloaded the report from Epic on SAP BI. On an Excel sheet, we recoded the reason for consults and categorized using a keyword list and recoded the consults into distinct, categories such as "anxiety," "depression," and "altered mental status (AMS)," with data spanning 2 fiscal years.

Burnout afflicts 35% to 44% of pediatric oncology physicians, nurses, and interprofessional staff and is related to excessive workloads and emotional exhaustion. Conversely, a healthy work environment is a protective factor for burnout among physicians and nurses. Meaningful recognition is a published standard necessary for creating a healthy work environment. Surgeons provide up to 10% of total opioid prescriptions across all specialties, and more than one-third of surgeon-prescribed medications are opioids. Patient-reported opioid consumption and risk of persistent opioid use beyond the postoperative recovery period correlate with the initial opioid quantity prescribed at discharge. Interventions to reduce postoperative opioid prescribing have demonstrated no adverse effects on pain control or increased need for prescription refill; however, in the absence of standardized prescription protocols, opioid prescribing practices vary widely.

The pre-intervention and post-intervention data collection phases occurred from January 1, 2022, to October 31, 2022, and March 7, 2023, to May 5, 2023, respectively. We previously reported that implementation of a department-wide opioid education program led to post-education improvements in opioid perceptions and prescription recommendations, with one-month and one-year retention.
