BACKGROUND: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is extremely common among athletes. Rate of second ACL injury due to surgical graft rupture or contralateral limb ACL injury is approximately 15-32%. Psychological readiness to return to sport (RTS) may be an important predictor of successful RTS outcomes. Psychological readiness can be quantified using the ACL Return to Sport after Injury (ACL-RSI) questionnaire, with higher scores demonstrating greater psychological readiness.

Operative fixation of these symptomatic rib fractures has traditionally led to the patient requiring hospital admission for observation and pain control. Common diagnoses associated with right upper quadrant and epigastric pain include cholecystitis, peptic ulcer disease (PUD), biliary colic, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Multiseptate gallbladder is a rare congenital anomaly that can cause symptoms of biliary colic, however it may present with atypical symptoms, which can prolong definitive diagnosis and treatment. We present a case of multiseptate gallbladder in a 21-year-old female who initially presented with GERD and IBS. After multiple failed treatment regimens for IBS, she ultimately was found to have multiseptate gallbladder and was successfully treated with cholecystectomy.

Tracheal necrosis is a rare complication of a thyroidectomy, almost exclusively following the resection of invasive thyroid carcinoma with tracheal involvement. We report a case of delayed tracheal necrosis following a routine thyroidectomy for noninvasive papillary thyroid carcinoma likely secondary to a postoperative seroma. This complication was successfully managed with a temporary tracheostomy.

OBJECTIVE: To assess safety and efficacy of niraparib + bevacizumab as a first-line maintenance therapy for patients with newly diagnosed advanced ovarian cancer.

METHODS: This multicenter, phase II, single-arm, open-label study enrolled adult patients with stage IIIB to IV ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer (NCT03326193). Patients were required to have an attempt at debulking surgery and have a complete response, partial response, or no evidence of disease following first-line, platinum-based chemotherapy with ≥3 cycles of bevacizumab. INTRODUCTION: Knee dislocations (KD) have high rates of multi-ligamentous injury (MLI). Collateral ligaments rupture in 50-60% of KDs. Traditionally, collateral ligaments have undergone primary repair, though microscopic healing is not optimal. Artelon is a degradable, polyurethane urea bio-scaffold thought to decrease mechanical forces and promote healing, motion, and strength. Currently, little evidence exists regarding its indications or outcomes.

MATERIAL AND METHODS: Thirty-two patients with KD and MLI undergoing collateral ligament repair at a level-I trauma centre between 2015-2020 were included. Patients age < 18, with ipsilateral fractures or inadequate follow-up were excluded. The Artelon (AG) and primary ligamentous repair group (PR) each included 16 patients. INTRODUCTION: In this manuscript, we present a late presentation of deep peroneal nerve symptoms after total hip arthroplasty (THA) which subsequently completely resolved after seroma evacuation and sciatic nerve decompression. While hematoma formation causing deep peroneal nerve symptoms after THA has been reported in the literature, we are unaware of any reports of seroma formation causing similar symptoms.

Paraneoplastic syndromes (PNS) are rare and can be challenging to diagnose and treat. The uniqueness of PNS lies in the complexity of presentation, the importance of early diagnosis, and the role of multidisciplinary care in managing those patients to mitigate long-term neurologic complications. We describe a patient with metastatic renal cell carcinoma who presented with a complex constellation of neurological symptoms (progressive global ataxia and sensory changes) that did not resolve following nephrectomy. While complete resolution of symptoms was not achieved, he did have stabilization of his neurologic decline with the initiation of cancer-directed therapies.

BACKGROUND: Patients with true paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) are frequently misdiagnosed with panic or anxiety disorders due to similar symptoms of palpitations, light-headedness, dyspnea, or chest discomfort. Unrecognized PSVT can lead to unnecessary management with anxiety medications. Treatment of PSVT with catheter ablation may lead to a reduction in anxiety medications.  Methods: A total of 175 patients underwent successful PSVT ablation between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2020. Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) is primarily a drug-induced skin eruption, which typically presents within two days of starting an offending medication; it is often self-limiting with spontaneous resolution within two weeks upon medication cessation. We report the case of a patient who presented with generalized desquamation, characteristic pustules, and several morbilliform rashes on the body surface in association with recent amoxicillin-clavulanic acid exposure. This was associated with significant pruritus, which was the associated chief complaint.
