People with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are particularly vulnerable to vaccine-preventable infections. Therefore, the National Kidney Foundation organized a multidisciplinary working group, including people with CKD and family care partners, to develop recommendations to improve vaccination rates, vaccination effectiveness, and health care for the CKD population. A modified Delphi process was used to achieve consensus on the recommendations. Objective: To investigate the association of frailty with post-cochlear implant (CI) admission, morbidity, and CI-aided word recognition outcomes in veterans.

Study design: Retrospective cohort.

Setting: Single-institution tertiary care Veterans Health Administration (VHA) hospital.

Methods: Veterans who underwent cochlear implantation between 1998 to 2024 were included. The Modified 5-Item Frailty Index (mFI-5) score was used to characterize preoperative frailty. The Impella 5.5 (Abiomed) is increasingly used as a bridge to durable left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation in advanced heart failure, yet most studies focus on survival and transition success rather than left ventricular (LV) unloading or valvular effects. This study addresses this gap by comparing Impella 5.5 and HeartMate 3 (HM3, Abbott) in terms of unloading and cardiac support at similar flow rates. This study evaluated whether discrepancies in tibial sesamoid position (TSP) between anteroposterior (AP) and sesamoid axial radiographs are associated with first-ray deformity parameters: first metatarsal rotation angle (MRA), sesamoid rotation angle (SRA), intermetatarsal angle (IMA), and hallux valgus angle (HVA). We hypothesized that increased frontal-plane external rotation of the first metatarsal would be the primary contributor to AP–axial TSP mismatch.

Kidney transplant candidates frequently experience prolonged inactive waitlist status due to incomplete readiness requirements, yet limited understanding exists regarding how patient barriers and team interactions intersect to influence activation timelines. This transcendental-phenomenological study explored how patient barriers and team dynamics contribute to delays in kidney transplant readiness, guided by Team Theory. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 16 participants (8 patients, 8 healthcare professionals) between December 2025 and February 2026. BACKGROUND: Flow diverters (FDs) are increasingly used for cerebral aneurysms, including distal anterior cerebral artery (DACA) aneurysms, but comparative data between devices in this challenging location are limited.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the safety and efficacy of Pipeline, Silk Vista Baby (SVB), and FRED Jr. FDs for unruptured DACA aneurysms and identify predictors of complete occlusion.

METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 166 patients treated with FDs at 39 centers in 14 countries (2018–2022) from the CRETA registry. Outcomes included aneurysm occlusion (O’Kelly–Marotta [OKM] scale), complications, retreatment, modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores, and independent predictors of complete occlusion using multivariable Cox regression.

Methods. This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 19 HCC patients who underwent liver resection in Cipto Mangunkusumo Tertiary Hospital from 2021 to 2024. Purpose: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC) are aggressive malignancies with poor prognoses. Emerging evidence suggests tissue hypercapnia (elevated CO₂) promotes aggressive, treatment resistant tumor biology. End-tidal CO₂ (ETCO₂) offers a composite measure of ventilation, systemic perfusion, and tissue CO₂ production. During curative-intent pancreaticoduodenectomy, we hypothesized that intraoperative ETCO₂ could serve as a marker of tissue CO₂ dyscapnia; both low levels indicating decreased circulatory reserves and high levels indicating tissue hypercapnia may result in worse outcomes.

Extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumors are rare mesenchymal tumors occurring outside the gastrointestinal tract, comprising ~5% of all gastrointestinal stromal tumors. A 65-year-old man undergoing evaluation for nephrolithiasis was incidentally found to have a 7.2 cm mesenteric mass proven to be gastrointestinal stromal tumors on biopsy. After limited response to imatinib, the patient underwent successful surgical resection. Mesenteric gastrointestinal stromal tumors often present larger and more aggressive, but in this instance, early incidental detection permitted effective intervention. This case highlights the diagnostic challenges posed by extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumors due to their atypical location and nonspecific symptoms. We present a case of a 51-year-old male with a colonic adenocarcinoma that presented as a full-thickness rectal prolapse with external haemorrhoids. This patient had no significant medical or surgical history and presented to the emergency department with a rectal prolapse which had become incarcerated and increasingly painful over the previous 2 weeks. A computed tomography (CT) abdomen and pelvis appeared benign, demonstrating a full-thickness rectal prolapse with no definite rectal mass. Aims: We sought to evaluate whether loss of reduction in lateral Kirschner (K)-wiring is noninferior to crossed K-wiring in closed reduction and percutaneous pinning of Type III supracondylar humerus fractures.

Methods: A prospective, randomized, non-inferiority trial was conducted. Emergency department patients aged three to seven years with Type III supracondylar humerus fractures were invited to participate with informed consent. Block randomization allocated patients into one of two pin configuration groups (lateral or crossed). Surgical technique and postoperative management were standardized between groups. Objectives: Participant retention is essential in prospective studies to minimize bias and maintain validity. This study aimed to estimate retention rates and identify factors influencing attrition in a multicenter cohort (PROCEED) of US adults with acute/recurrent acute pancreatitis (AP/RAP) and chronic pancreatitis (CP).

Methods: Participants from the PROCEED study with AP/RAP or CP eligible for follow-up within the designated visit window were included. Retention was defined as completing at least one follow-up visit during the observation period. Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has become the preferred treatment for various thoracic aortic pathologies, including blunt thoracic aortic injury, aneurysms, and dissections. Involvement of Ishimaru Zone 2 occurs in up to 60% of TEVAR cases requiring extension across the distal aortic arch and left subclavian artery (LSA). Coverage of the LSA without revascularization increases the risk of complications such as upper extremity ischemia, stroke, and spinal cord injury. Therefore, the preservation of LSA perfusion during TEVAR is essential. Objective: To evaluate the early and late outcomes of patient-specific endografts with retrograde outer branches for the treatment of complex aortic aneurysms involving cranially oriented target vessels (TVs).

Methods: This multicenter retrospective study incorporated both prospectively and retrospectively collected data from consecutive patients who underwent fenestrated-branched endovascular aortic repair using patient-specific endografts with retrograde branches for complex aortic aneurysms with cranially oriented TVs from August 1, 2015, to October 31, 2024. Cranial orientation was defined as an aorta-to-vessel origin angle greater than 30°. The primary outcome was retrograde branch-related target artery instability (TAI).
