The main neuropathological changes in AD patients are neuronal death, synaptic alterations, brain inflammation, and the presence of cerebral protein aggregates in the form of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles. PURPOSE OF REVIEW: The goal of this paper is to provide a comparative review of using phone (audio-only) or video for mental health treatments. Our review includes evidence of phone and video's effectiveness in terms of reduced symptomology, retention, satisfaction, therapeutic alliance, and other outcomes of interest. This review also discusses how patients and providers' experiences and attitudes differ between these two modalities. Finally, we present information on different usage rates of phone and video across patient populations and mental health provider types, and different implementation strategies.

Introduction: This study characterized yoga as a form of free-time physical activity by analyzing and evaluating the body composition of women who regularly practice yoga, and by describing the effect of yoga on their psychophysical health. Material and Methods: The study involved 94 women: 56 yoga practitioners and 38 Zumba participants. The subjects were surveyed with a questionnaire to elicit information about their socioeconomic status. Body composition was determined by bioelectrical impedance analysis. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the efficacy of autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation for high-risk neuroblastoma in China.

Methods: The data of 90 high-risk neuroblastoma patients treated with the CCCG-NB 2015 regimen were reviewed. The baseline clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis were analyzed and compared. In addition, the prognoses of tandem autologous stem cell transplantation and single autologous stem cell transplantation groups were compared.

OBJECTIVE: Whether short-term, low-potency opioid prescriptions for acute pain lead to future at-risk opioid use remains controversial and inadequately characterized. Our objective was to measure the association between emergency department (ED) opioid analgesic exposure after a physical, trauma-related event and subsequent opioid use. Cognitive impairment occurring after COVID-19 infection can be explained by various mechanisms, including persistent systemic inflammation, direct viral invasion, alteration in the blood-brain barrier, and cerebrovascular endothelial injury.There are few studies that have explored the impact of COVID-19 on pre-existing psychiatric conditions. This case report highlights the temporal association of cognitive impairment with COVID-19 and the need for cognitive assessment and management in post-COVID-19 patients with pre-existing psychiatric conditions.

Heart failure can lead to renal impairment, an interaction now termed "cardiorenal syndrome." The prevalent physiological explanation for the renal impairment that accompanies heart failure centers around the forward failure hypothesis, which emphasizes the role of left ventricular dysfunction in causing edema, and the backward failure hypothesis, which singles out venous congestion as the dominant mechanism of edema and reduced glomerular filtration rate. Hypertension and chronic kidney disease are closely linked. Patients with chronic kidney disease have hypertension almost universally and uncontrolled hypertension accelerates the decline in kidney function. The pathophysiology of hypertension in chronic kidney disease is complex, but is largely related to reduced nephron mass, sympathetic nervous system overactivation, involvement of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, and generalized endothelial dysfunction. Consensus guidelines for blood pressure targets have adopted a blood pressure <120/80 mm Hg in native chronic kidney disease and <130/80 mm Hg in kidney transplant recipients. Guidelines also strongly advocate for renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system blockade as the first-line therapy.

Myofibroblast activation is a cellular response elicited by a variety of physiological or pathological insults whereby cells initiate a coordinated response intended to eradicate the insult and then revert back to a basal state. However, an underlying theme in various disease states is persistent myofibroblast activation that fails to resolve. Renal transplantation usually requires the administration of lifelong immunosuppressive therapy to minimize rejection.1 However, while these immunosuppressants are vital to graft protection, they increase the risk of infection and malignancy. Posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD), a troublesome combination of both, covers a wide range of lymphomas, most commonly B-cell type and has been described in pediatric and adult patients.2 Risk factors for PTLD include Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection and immunosuppression and the prevalence of adult kidney transplant PTLD is estimated to be 0.5% to 4%, with the highest incidences occurring within the first year of transplant.2-5 …

IMPORTANCE: The comparative effectiveness of the most common operations in the long-term management of dyslipidemia is not clear.

OBJECTIVE: To compare 4-year outcomes associated with vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) vs Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) for remission and relapse of dyslipidemia.

DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This retrospective comparative effectiveness study was conducted from January 1, 2009, to December 31, 2016, with follow-up until December 31, 2018. Participants included patients with dyslipidemia at the time of surgery who underwent VSG (4142 patients) or RYGB (2853 patients). BACKGROUND: The American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) has proposed practice guidelines for evaluating patients with suspected choledocholithiasis. This study aims to assess and compare practice patterns for following ASGE guidelines for choledocholithiasis in a large academic vs. community hospital setting.

METHODS: A total of one thousand ER indicated for choledocholithiasis were randomly selected. Patients' demographics, total bilirubin, imaging studies including magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP), intraoperative cholangiogram (IOC), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and ERCP results were retrospectively collected. The cerebral pressure reactivity index (PRx), through intracranial pressure (ICP) measurements, informs clinicians about the cerebral autoregulation (CA) status in adult-sedated patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI). Using PRx in clinical practice is currently limited by variability over shorter monitoring periods. We applied an innovative method to reduce the PRx variability by ventilator-induced slow (1/min) positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) oscillations.
