BACKGROUND: The vertical drop jump (VDJ) test is widely used for clinical assessment of ACL injury risk, but it is not clear whether such assessments are valid.

AIM: To examine if sports medicine professionals and coaches are able to identify players at risk of sustaining an ACL injury by visually assessing player performance during a VDJ test.

DESIGN: Retrospective cohort Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) data study.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was conducted using the publicly available data in the SART National Summary Report from 2014 to 2017. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a new form of treatment being used to heal and help improve symptoms of traumatic brain injuries, external wounds, and strokes. HBOT helps to completely saturate hemoglobin with oxygen, which then allows for a larger capacity of oxygen to be delivered to the damaged tissues. Tissue wounds benefit from this HBOT because of the increase in oxygen supply to the damaged area, helping to combat hypoxia, which is preventing proper wound healing. The increase in oxygen allows for an increase in myofibroblast differentiation to allow the healing process to continue. HBOT has also proven to increase …

A Gastric Bezoar is defined as an accumulation of indigestible foreign material found in an individual’s GI tract. The incidence of gastric bezoar is 0.3% as reported by endoscopy studies. These formations usually consist of insoluble vegetable matter (phytobezoars), hair (trichobezoars), or medications (pharmacobezoar). In general, they can be asymptomatic for many years or cause nonspecific symptoms including abdominal pain, early satiety, and weight loss. Importance: Planning complex operations such as robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy requires surgeons to review 2-dimensional computed tomography or magnetic resonance images to understand 3-dimensional (3-D), patient-specific anatomy.

Objective: To determine surgical outcomes for robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy when surgeons reviewed 3-D virtual reality (VR) models during operative planning.

Design, Setting, and Participants: A single-blind randomized clinical trial was performed. • The United States is currently experiencing an opioid epidemic, which claims 115 lives daily by overdose.
• Tools for identifying patients at increased risk for abuse include: Screener and Opioid Assessment for Patients with Pain (SOAPP-R) and Opioid Risk Tool (ORT).
• However, data is lacking for the comparison of the two most commonly used opioid screen tools (SOAPP-R and ORT).
• We are comparing the effectiveness of these screening tools for patients being discharged from the hospital who have no "red flags" for abuse.

Purpose and Significance: Therapeutic riding (TR) is equine-assisted riding lessons that are adapted for people with a wide variety of impairments and is often used as an adjunct to traditional therapies. Previous research has shown that TR helped to improve sensory functioning, cognition and social skills in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) but sessions have typically been for 10-12 weeks. The purpose of this study was to investigate if social skills and sensory functioning improved after only 8 weeks of TR.

Identifying which genes are early indicators for preterm births using cell-free ribonucleic acid (cfRNA) from non-invasive blood tests provided by pregnant women can improve prenatal care. Currently, there are no medical tests for early detection of preterm birth risk in routine checkups for pregnant women. Recent studies have shown potential genes that can predict preterm birth. Purpose: Adaptor proteins such as growth factor receptor-bound protein-2 (Grb2) play important roles in cancer cell signaling. In the present study, we examined the biological effects of liposomal antisense oligodeoxynucleotide that blocks Grb2 expression (L-Grb2) in ovarian cancer models.

Experimental Design: Murine orthotopic models of ovarian cancer (OVCAR5 and SKOV3ip1) were used to study the biological effects of L-Grb2 on tumor growth. In vitro experiments (cell viability assay, Western blot analysis, siRNA transfection, and reverse phase protein array) were carried out to elucidate the mechanism and potential predictors of tumor response to L-Grb2.

A high sensitivity Cardiac SPECT system using hemi-ellipsoid crystals with pinhole collimation was previously proposed by Dey et al. To investigate detector resolution for this design, the scintillation light spread on a monolithic hemi-ellipsoidal CsI crystal was simulated using Geant4 Monte Carlo. The expected distribution of scintillation light on the outer surface of the crystal from photoelectric absorption events was obtained from the simulations for selected points inside the crystal. Anchoring of FCSEMSs using a double-pigtail plastic stent (DPS) may decrease migration. Aim: To compare stent migration rates between patients who received FCSEMS alone and those who received both an FCSEMS and anchoring DPS. The concurrent use of opioids and benzodiazepines (BZDs poses a formidable challenge for clinicians who manage chronic pain. While the escalating use of opioid analgesics for the treatment of chronic pain and the concomitant rise in opioid-related abuse and misuse are widely recognized trends, the contribution of combination use of BZDs, alcohol, and/or other sedative agents to opioid-related morbidity and mortality is underappreciated, even when these agents are used appropriately. Patients with chronic pain who use opioid analgesics along with BZDs have a defined increase in rates of adverse events, overdose, and death, warranting close monitoring. This study compares patient outcomes following pectus excavatum repair using cryoablation, epidural, or patient-controlled analgesia for post-operative pain control. Primary outcome: length of stay
Secondary outcomes: operative time, pain scores, time to only oral analgesics.
Conclusion: Intercostal cryoablation during minimally invasive pectus excavatum repair significantly reduces length of stay and time to oral analgesics alone.
