BACKGROUND: Computational fluid dynamics has shown good agreement with contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging measurements in cardiovascular disease applications. We have developed a biomechanical model of microvascular perfusion using contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging signal intensities derived from skeletal calf muscles to study peripheral artery disease (PAD). METHODS AND RESULTS: The computational microvascular model was used to study skeletal calf muscle perfusion in 56 in-dividuals (36 patients with PAD, 20 matched controls). The recruited participants underwent contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging and ankle-brachial index testing at rest and after 6-minute treadmill walking. Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate effects of perioperative dexamethasone on hospital length of stay (LOS) and glycemic control for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA).

Methods: We performed retrospective case review of THA performed in adults (≥ 18 years old) with type 2 diabetes at Springfield Memorial Hospital (Springfield, IL) immediately before (2013), during (2014), and after (2015) publication of consensus guidelines for use of perioperative dexamethasone. The prevalence of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related dementias (ADRD) is increasing. African Americans are twice as likely to develop dementia than other ethnic populations. Traditional cognitive screening solutions lack the sensitivity to independently identify individuals at risk for cognitive decline. The DCTclock is a 3-min AI-enabled adaptation of the well-established clock drawing test. The DCTclock can estimate dementia risk for both general cognitive impairment and the presence of AD pathology. Plantar plate injuries have gained recognition as a common cause of forefoot pain and instability. This review aims to comprehensively analyze the present landscape of treatment options available for addressing plantar plate injuries.

A comprehensive literature review was completed by the authors using Google Scholar, Pubmed, Cochrane Review, and Science Direct using a combination of phrases related to the title of this article that discussed various treatment modalities for plantar plate injuries. INTRODUCTION: An estimated 44 million individuals live with Alzheimer's Dementia globally, a number expected to triple by 2050.1 Depression is a commonly observed comorbidity in individuals with Alzheimer's disease. Traditional antidepressant medications often pose challenges due to their side effects and limited efficacy in this population. Background: Social determinants of health, such as race and ethnicity, can have a significant impact on people's health and well-being. People of color are more likely to experience poverty, lack of access to healthcare, and discrimination, which can lead to worse health outcomes. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the gallbladder. It is the most common gastrointestinal surgery performed in the United States. In this study, we sought to determine if there is an association between race/ethnicity and morbidity/mortality in adult patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

BACKGROUND: The current College of American Pathologist (CAP) recommendation is that breast biomarkers Estrogen (ER), Progesterone (PR) and HER2 neu (Her2) testing be done on all primary invasive breast carcinomas and on recurrent or metastatic tumors with the aim to identify patients that will benefit from hormonal treatment or anti-Her2 therapy.
