Transforming Primary Care: Innovative Post Graduate Pa Training For Real-World Solutions, Kenneth Botelho, James Ali
Transforming Primary Care: Innovative Post Graduate Pa Training For Real-World Solutions, Kenneth Botelho, James Ali
Lynchburg Journal of Medical Science
The ongoing crisis in primary care demands innovative and scalable strategies to prepare and retain advanced practice providers. This article introduces the Primary Care Practitioner (PCP) Program, a conceptual postgraduate training model designed for certified physician associates/assistants (PAs) who aim to serve in underserved and rural communities. The program integrates advanced clinical training, leadership development, telehealth competencies, VR-enhanced simulation, and evidence-based strategies to promote provider resilience. Rooted in systems-based thinking and real-world applicability, the PCP Program culminates in capstone projects that encourage innovation in care delivery and population health.
Aligned with national frameworks such as the HRSA Primary Care Training …
Obesity And Its Effect On Work Performance, Erin Lajoie
Obesity And Its Effect On Work Performance, Erin Lajoie
Lynchburg Journal of Medical Science
This research aims to examine how obesity affects work productivity and performance and how companies can support their employees diagnosed with obesity. Obesity is a growing global health concern that has significant implications for decreased workplace productivity and performance. Obesity is considered a chronic complex disease often associated with hypertension (HTN), type-II diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and heart disease that can lead to overall increases in healthcare costs for employers through increased absenteeism, presenteeism, and decreased efficiency. A systemic literature search was completed using PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar, identifying multiple journal articles about obesity and productivity in the workplace …
Health Literacy: Impact And Interventions, Elizabeth Simpson
Health Literacy: Impact And Interventions, Elizabeth Simpson
Lynchburg Journal of Medical Science
The objectives of this paper are to examine the connection between health literacy level and patient outcome, identify contributing factors of low health literacy, and identify ways in which providers and health literacy programs can promote health literacy on an individual and community level. I conducted a literature search using PubMed and Google Scholar in order to lend evidence to these objectives.
The results demonstrated a clear correlation between low health literacy levels and poor patient outcomes. Low health literacy is also correlated with reduced medication adherence, improper use of medication, more emergency department visits, and unhealthy habits during pregnancy …
Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection, Amy N. Wagner
Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection, Amy N. Wagner
Graduate Dissertations and Theses
Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) causes 35% of myocardial infarctions in women under the age of 50 years old. Typically, these are healthy, active women without risk factors for atherosclerotic coronary artery syndromes. SCAD is a myocardial infarction caused by a coronary arterial dissection and not atherosclerotic plaques. Because of this, those effected do not present with the typical risk factors associated with acute atherosclerotic coronary syndromes. Therefore, clinicians must maintain a high level of suspicion for SCAD in young, healthy, women presenting with chest pain. Observation and pharmacological therapies are the preferred methods of treatment for a SCAD event. …
