3D bioprinting is an innovative technology that enables the creation of bioengineered structures through computer-guided processes. This technique has been in use for more than 35 years and has made a huge contribution in the biomedical field. Utilizing biomaterials with regenerative properties has significantly impacted tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and pharmaceutical research. Various bioprinting techniques, including inkjet, extrusion, laser-assisted, and stereolithography, offer unique advantages for precise tissue construction. Bioinks used for printing, can be derived from natural and synthetic sources. It ensures biocompatibility, mechanical integrity, and controlled degradation. Advanced bioinks—such as nanoengineered, biomolecular, multimaterial, self-assembling, and stimuli-responsive variants—enhance applications in …

Elucidation Of Hub Genes And Pathway Associated With Gut Microbiome Dysbiosis And Alzheimer’S Disease Via Data Analytic Approaches, Premaanand Rawi, Ying Pei Wong, Ee Xion Tan, Anna Pick Kiong Ling Feb 2026

Elucidation Of Hub Genes And Pathway Associated With Gut Microbiome Dysbiosis And Alzheimer’S Disease Via Data Analytic Approaches, Premaanand Rawi, Ying Pei Wong, Ee Xion Tan, Anna Pick Kiong Ling

Chulalongkorn Medical Journal

Background: Recent studies have highlighted the relationship between gut microbiome and Alzheimer’s disease (AD), revealing the ways of how gut microbial balance impacts conditions ranging from inflammatory bowel diseases to neurological disorders. The emerging field of the gut-brain-axis suggests production of microbial metabolites influences AD progression. However, there is limited understanding of molecular mechanisms involved in neurological disease when gut microbiome dysbiosis occurs. This study aimed to identify hub genes and pathways associated with gut microbiome dysbiosis and AD through data analytics approaches.

Methods: Public gene expression datasets on gut microbiome dysbiosis, and AD were obtained from the GEO and …

Evaluation Of Age-Related Spermatozoa Morphological Section Lengths In Gloster Canary Spermatozoa Using Computer Aided Sperm Analysis (Casa) System, Arda Onur Özkök, Burcu Esi̇n, Cumali̇ Kaya Jan 2025

Evaluation Of Age-Related Spermatozoa Morphological Section Lengths In Gloster Canary Spermatozoa Using Computer Aided Sperm Analysis (Casa) System, Arda Onur Özkök, Burcu Esi̇n, Cumali̇ Kaya

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

The canary is a small passerine bird of the finch family. Canary spermatozoa are also morphologically similar to many other songbird species. In this study, the morphological characteristics of Gloster canary spermatozoa of different age ranges were examined, and the length values of the parts forming the spermatozoa were compared. The study used ten active Gloster canaries between the ages of 3 (Trial-1) and four years (Trial-2). Semen samples from 3-year-old canaries in the study were evaluated, and morphological segment lengths were recorded. In the study, to avoid individual differences and make homogeneous measurements, semen samples were retaken from the …

Comparison Of Efficacy Between Thai-Made Replacement Parts (Smart Litho Plus) And Standard Electromagnetic Shock Wave Systems For Renal Stone Treatment, Supoj Ratchanon, Patranuch Noppakulsati Dec 2024

Comparison Of Efficacy Between Thai-Made Replacement Parts (Smart Litho Plus) And Standard Electromagnetic Shock Wave Systems For Renal Stone Treatment, Supoj Ratchanon, Patranuch Noppakulsati

Chulalongkorn Medical Journal

Abstract

Background: Urinary stones are one of the most common urological problems in Thailand. Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is one of the most frequently used treatments due to its noninvasive nature and widespread availability. However, the effectiveness of lithotripters with power sources produced in Thailand (Smart Litho Plus) compared with that of standard machines is poorly established. Therefore, we aim to compare the efficacy of Thai-made replacement parts with that of standard electromagnetic shock wave systems for the treatment of renal stones.

Methods: We conducted a multicenter retrospective cohort study involving 121 patients with renal stones across three sites …

Repeatability, Reproducibility, Agreement, And Safety Of Tono-Pen Tip Cover For Intraocular Measurement Using Latex And Polyethylene Wrap, Pukkapol Suvannachart Jan 2020

Repeatability, Reproducibility, Agreement, And Safety Of Tono-Pen Tip Cover For Intraocular Measurement Using Latex And Polyethylene Wrap, Pukkapol Suvannachart

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Background: Tono-Pen® is a regularly used device. A tip cover is needed to prevent damage to the transducer tip and patient-to-patient contamination. Ocufilm® (OF), latex disposable tip cover, is costly and able to cause allergic reactions. Objective: To evaluate repeatability, reproducibility, and agreement of intraocular pressure measurement with Tono-Pen® using OF and polyethylene wrap tip cover (PE) in human eyes. Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional, experimental study. For the right eyes, 4 measurements using PE were done by two raters (A and B) in random order to assess intra-rater repeatability and inter-rater reproducibility. For left eyes, 4 measurements …

Developing A Novel Bioink From Hyaluronic Acid-Alginate-Silk Fibroin (Ha- Alg-Sf) For Cartilage 3d Printing, Truc Thanh Nguyen Jan 2020

Developing A Novel Bioink From Hyaluronic Acid-Alginate-Silk Fibroin (Ha- Alg-Sf) For Cartilage 3d Printing, Truc Thanh Nguyen

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

In the development of a bioink for cartilage 3D printing, Hyaluronic acid (HA), Alginate (Alg) were modified into amine-hyaluronic acid (HA-NH2) and aldehyde alginate (Alg-CHO). Magnetic Nuclear Resonance (NMR) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) confirmed the successful modification of HA-NH2 and Alg-CHO. The hydrogel HA-Alg was crosslinked as a result of Schiff's base reaction, between primary amines and aldehydes to form imine bonds. By varying volume ratios, the optimal hydrogel HA-Alg (5:5) exhibited its printability, biocompatibility, and functionality as a bioink for cartilage tissue. HA-Alg (5:5) was printable with a custom-made extrusion 3D printer, had slow degradation, shear-thinning behavior, …
