Effects Of A Commercially Available Acoustic Vibration Device On Nasal Symptoms, Pulmonary Function, And Exercise Performance, Catherine M. Cavallaro
Effects Of A Commercially Available Acoustic Vibration Device On Nasal Symptoms, Pulmonary Function, And Exercise Performance, Catherine M. Cavallaro
Masters Theses, 2020-current
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the SinuSonic acoustic vibration device influenced nasal symptoms and function, expired nitric oxide (eNO), pulmonary function, and exercise responses and performance in active individuals. Methods: Sixteen recreational exercisers (age 34.5 ± 16.0 y: VO2max 41.1 ± 6.5 mL/kg/min) completed two exercise trials, each consisting of a 10 min warm up followed by a graded exercise test on a cycle ergometer. In a randomized, counterbalanced design, participants used a SinuSonic device (or sham device) for 5 min, followed by 5 min of rest, before undergoing the graded exercise test. Nasal …
Use Of Cardiomems Hf Sensor In Management Of Nyha Class Iii Heart Failure, Trevor Andrunik, Anne Eady
Use Of Cardiomems Hf Sensor In Management Of Nyha Class Iii Heart Failure, Trevor Andrunik, Anne Eady
Physician Assistant Capstones, 2020-current
Objective: Assess the ability of continuous pulmonary artery pressure monitoring via implantable CardioMEMs HF device to reduce hospitalization in New York Heart Association (NYHA) Class III heart failure patients over the age of 18. Design: Systematic literature review. Methods: Searches were conducted via PubMed and ClinicalTrials.gov using the single search term “CardioMEMs.” Inclusion criteria narrowed results to studies performed in the last 10 years, randomized control trials, cohort studies, and utilizing heart failure related hospitalization as the primary endpoint. Results: The current data unanimously asserts that the CardioMEMs HF device is effective at reducing heart failure related hospitalizations, with secondary …
Transcatheter Vs. Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement In Patients At Intermediate Surgical Risk, Nichole M. Bonzano, David M. Milligram
Transcatheter Vs. Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement In Patients At Intermediate Surgical Risk, Nichole M. Bonzano, David M. Milligram
Physician Assistant Capstones, 2020-current
Abstract
- Objective: To compare the safety and efficacy of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) to surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) in patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis at intermediate surgical risk.
- Design: Systematic literature review.
- Methods Literature searches were done in PubMed and Scopus search engines using key terms: TAVR, trans-catheter aortic valve replacement, SAVR, surgical aortic valve replacement, severe aortic stenosis, and intermediate risk. Filters included primary research only. Inclusion criteria were articles which studied an intermediate risk patient population (STS-PROM 3-15%), primary research, and compared outcomes of TAVR and SAVR in patients with severe aortic stenosis requiring replacement. …
Diagnostic Effectiveness Of High-Sensitivity Troponins, Sean R. Bodin, Jacqueline Ramirez
Diagnostic Effectiveness Of High-Sensitivity Troponins, Sean R. Bodin, Jacqueline Ramirez
Physician Assistant Capstones, 2016 to 2019
Background: Acute myocardial infarctions (AMI) are a leading cause of death in the United States. The key to increasing survivability is early recognition to expedite the proper treatment modalities. In conjunction with the clinical presentation and electrocardiograms, the use of cardiac biomarkers is exponentially important in not only recognizing a cardiac event but also determining the extent of injury. Advancement in laboratory technology has led to the development of high-sensitive troponin (hs-troponin) assays which can detect smaller cardiac troponin serum levels compared to conventional troponin assays. This implies that the use of hs-troponin assays is more effective in the …
