The VP40 protein plays a critical role in coordinating the virion assembly, budding, and replication of the Ebola virus. Efforts have been made in recent years to understand various aspects of VP40 structure, dynamics, and function such as assembly of the protein and its roles in virus replication and penetration of the protein into the plasma membrane. A major conformational transformation is necessary for VP40 to form some of its oligomeric structures and to perform various functions. Kaposi's Sarcoma-associated Herpesvirus (KSHV) is the etiologic agent of several human malignancies, particularly Kaposi's Sarcoma (KS), which preferentially arise in immunocompromised patients such as HIV+ subpopulation while still lacking of effective therapeutic options. We recently found that the ribonucleotide reductase (RR) subunit M2 is potentially regulated by the key oncogenic HGF/c-MET pathway in KSHV-related lymphoma cells. One of RR inhibitor, 3-aminopyridine-2-carboxaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (3-AP) effectively induced apoptosis of KSHV+ lymphomas and suppressed tumor progression . Introduction Impaired systolic cardiac function in patients with ischemic cardiac disease is well known. Diastolic cardiac dysfunction is also found in these patients, so we aimed to show whether percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) could improve diastolic function. Patients and methods Twenty patients with chronic ischemic cardiomyopathy (with cardiac ejection fraction <45%) were examined at baseline and at 2 weeks after PCI diastolic function was evaluated by transmitral pulsed wave Doppler. Results Before PCI 60% of patients (12 patients) showed nonrestrictive filling pattern and 40% of patients (eight patients) showed restrictive filling pattern. Following PCI, diastolic function showed an improvement in most patients with only two patients still having an restrictive filling pattern. Polybromo-1 (PBRM1) is an important tumor suppressor in kidney cancer. It contains six tandem bromodomains (BDs), which are specialized structures that recognize acetyl-lysine residues. While BD2 has been found to bind acetylated histone H3 lysine 14 (H3K14ac), it is not known whether other BDs collaborate with BD2 to generate strong binding to H3K14ac, and the importance of H3K14ac recognition for the molecular and tumor suppressor function of PBRM1 is also unknown. Currently, there are no approved vaccines available to protect against infection. Adenoviruses are safe and highly immunogenic vaccine vectors capable of inducing lasting humoral and cellular immune responses. Here, we developed two Adenovirus (Ad) vectored Zika virus vaccines by inserting a ZIKV prM-E gene expression cassette into human Ad types 4 (Ad4-prM-E) and 5 (Ad5-prM-E). Mutant TP53 (mutp53) GOF is mainly mediated by its binding with other tumor suppressive or oncogenic proteins. Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) remains a major cause of childhood blindness in developing countries. As childhood and neonatal mortality in Egypt has shown tremendous improvement over the past two decades, it is expected to encounter an increasing number of cases of blindness from ROP in surviving infants unless strict guidelines and cooperation between different involved departments are explicitly set. In this review article, the author highlights the studies conducted and published risk factors, recommends protocols for early diagnosis, and describes management strategies to lessen or prevent blindness related to ROP.
