Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm(Ipmn), Vikram Patil, Varun Venkatesh Dr, Sudha Kiran Das Dr

A 50-year-old male presented with complaints of abdominal pain which was on and off along with weight loss of 6kg in the last 1 month and was diagnosed of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm.
EUS+FNA was performed which showed hypoechoic cystic mass with solid component in head of pancreas communicating with MPD. FNAC was performed in the same setting which showed benign ductal epithelial cells. Cystic fluid was aspirated and CEA and amylase were elevated. The treatment and prognosis of IPMNs (intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms) depend on factors like lesion type and patient condition. However these lesions possess malignant potential which …

An Uncommon Culprit In Sma Syndrome: Navigating Through Duodenal Adenocarcinoma-Induced Obstruction, Deepak Benny Dr, Vikram Patil, Shrisagar R A
Radiology Teaching Files
Superior Mesenteric Artery (SMA) Syndrome is an infrequent vascular compression disorder, characterized predominantly by the extrinsic obstruction of the third part of the duodenum by the SMA, leading to a spectrum of gastrointestinal symptoms. While most commonly associated with rapid weight loss and anatomical variations, its occurrence in the context of adjacent malignancies remains exceedingly rare and clinically significant.
Here I detail a compelling case of a 49-year-old male, initially presenting with nonspecific symptoms of intermittent abdominal pain and vomiting. The diagnostic journey, propelled by computed tomography (CT) and subsequent investigations, unveiled an underlying duodenal adenocarcinoma exerting extrinsic pressure, precipitating …

Intentional Learning Theory: Validating Its Measurement, Sarah Mollman, Timothy J. Muckle, Margaret Martinez
College of Nursing Faculty Publications
The purpose of this article is to describe and analyze the psychometric properties of the Learning Orientation Questionnaire (LOQ), which have not been previously published. Psychometric validation involves the accumulation of proper empirical evidence to confirm measurement of the intended construct, and to justify the intended uses of the scales. LOQ is based upon the intentional learning theory, which is a comprehensive, holistic learning theory. Through the expertise of the LOQ’s developer, educational researcher, and psychometrician, this article presents evidence of LOQ’s reliability and validity according to published best practices for scale development and validation. LOQ is a reliable and …

Discussing Systemic Racism And Racial Privilege At A Large, Academic Health Center Using A Modified Privilege Walk, Elizabeth A. Brown, Rosemarie Jones
Community & Environmental Health Faculty Publications
Background: There is a motivation for organizations to understand race and racism from the perspective of minoritized individuals. Academic health centers (AHC) are ideal organizations to have these conversations as they educate healthcare providers, support research in health disparities, and care for diverse patients.
Methods: We piloted and evaluated a virtual Modified Privilege Walk (MPW) with faculty, staff, and students at an AHC in July 2020 to promote difficult conversations about race/racism, social class, and privilege. Each MPW session was voluntary, held virtually over Zoom, and lasted one hour and thirty minutes. Before attending, participants answered questions based on their …

Pediatric Vaccination Adherence: Enhancing Compliance Among First-Generation Asian American Parents, Katelyn Leong
Pediatric Vaccination Adherence: Enhancing Compliance Among First-Generation Asian American Parents, Katelyn Leong
Nursing | Senior Theses
Background: Vaccine adherence in the pediatric population refers to receiving vaccines as per the recommended schedule, which significantly reduces vaccine-preventable diseases and enhances community immunity. Vaccine hesitancy, driven by concerns such as safety, misinformation, or cultural beliefs can affect adherence. National coverage of state-mandated vaccines among kindergarteners declined from 95% to around 93% between 2019 and 2022, varying across different vaccines. Objective: This research proposal’s focus is to determine if an educational intervention targeting first-generation Asian Americans, who have adopted their immigrant parents' misinformation about vaccines, will effectively increase vaccination rates among their children. The study aims to assess the …

Introduction: According to the American Society of Gastroenterology Endoscopy (ASGE), choledocholithiasis is defined as the presence of gallstones in biliary tree. Choledocholithiasis is concomitantly present in approximately 1 to 10 percent of patients with cholelithiasis. Choledocholithiasis can be described as small <15 >mm, large >15 mm, and difficult due to anatomic location, impaction, or unusual hardness/ shape. Choledocholithiasis is managed endoscopically with large balloon papillary dilation, cholangioscopy-guided intraductal laser and electrohydraulic lithotripsy (EHL), and escalation to laparoscopic common bile duct exploration, if endoscopic procedures fail. Thus far, there are sparse studies that show the requirement of choledochotomy in large and …15>

Full Plate Living-Teaching Kitchen: A Sustainable Approach To Employee Health, Amy M. Daniel
Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarly Projects
Abstract
Insufficient fiber intake is a key contributor to diet-related chronic diseases (DRCD) such as obesity, hypertension, and diabetes. This evidence-based health promotion program evaluated integrating a teaching kitchen with the Full Plate Living Plan (FPL-TK) to increase daily fiber intake. Grounded in the Social Cognitive Theory, the 8-week employee health promotion program included hands-on culinary demonstrations, a structured FPL nutrition curriculum, and fiber tracking tools to help participants engage and participate in weekly health and wellness changes. The program successfully achieved high engagement rates, with 80% of participants reporting high satisfaction with the program and 100% of participants stating …

Enhancing Patient Experience Through Ehr Implementation In Rwandan Rural Health Posts: A Comprehensive Learning Program For Improving The Ehr Adoption, Mugeni Samantha Niyoyita
Regis University Student Publications (comprehensive collection)
This research project aims to develop a tailored learning program for staff at rural health posts (HPs) to ensure the smooth adoption of an Electronic Health Records (EHR). It supports Rwanda's effort to expand Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and aligns with the Ministry of Health's Digitization Directorate General (DDG) program, which focuses on secure data access, continuity of care, and evidence-based decision-making.
Using a design thinking approach, the learning program is centered on the needs of healthcare workers, gathered through interviews and surveys with both the HP staff and the EHR designers. Research identified different levels of digital literacy and …

Reimagining Equitable Care: Simulation-Based Education And The Dismantling Of Implicit Bias And Stigma Of Vulnerable Populations In Hospitals, Vanessa Smith
Nursing | Senior Theses
Background: Simulation-based education consists of using high-fidelity mannequins and equipment to provide a safe space for healthcare professionals to practice crucial skills within healthcare. Used within hospitals and schools, simulation most commonly surrounds practicing hands-on skills such as central line insertion, IV insertion, Ultrasound-guided procedures, code blue response, etc. However, a large portion of healthcare that is overlooked is tackling issues within patient-provider relationships. Simulation can help dismantle the negative behaviors and feelings providers push onto patients through the use of standardized patients and role-playing. By using these methods, simulation can reduce providers’ personal implicit biases and the stigma associated …
