OBJECTIVE: The Lamar Soutter Library of the University of Massachusetts Medical School aims to develop Teaching Cases to support its institution’s researchers’ data management (RDM) practices. Developed by a librarian and a physician/researcher in psychiatry, the objective of this Teaching Case was to help learners identify challenges managing health data in a double blind, experimental versus placebo, multi-stage research study.

METHODS: The librarian conducted a semi-structured data interview of a physician/researcher conducting a double blind, experimental versus placebo investigation.
