Utilizing Remote Patient Monitoring With Dnp Students To Provide Pre-Natal Care, Sara Mccumber
Utilizing Remote Patient Monitoring With Dnp Students To Provide Pre-Natal Care, Sara Mccumber
InnovateHER Meeting 2026
This educational project introduced Nurse Practitioners to the use of RPM during pre-natal care for a patient with pre-natal hypertension. Hypertension is a risk factor in 16% of pregnancies and 5-8% of US births are impacted by hypertensive disorders and preeclampsia (CDC, 2023).
Identification and effective management of hypertension in pregnancy recently was an initiative of the Minnesota Perinatal Quality Collaborative (MPQC, 2022).

BACKGROUND: Remote patient monitoring (RPM) for hypertension management has become increasingly popular, demonstrating benefits for both clinics and patients. However, patient engagement in self-measured blood pressure (SMBP) monitoring remains low despite healthcare providers' efforts. This study aimed to assess adherence and acceptance of RPM for SMBP among Texas Federally Qualified Health Center patients.
METHODS: Participants enrolled in the SMBP monitoring program were recruited at three health centers. Data was collected from patient health records, and a questionnaire assessed hypertension self-management, technology acceptance, intentions, and attitudes toward SMBP. Thematic analysis was conducted for open-ended responses that followed each item, and multivariate …
Taking A Load Off: User Perceptions Of Smart Offloading Walkers For Diabetic Foot Ulcers Using The Technology Acceptance Model, M G Finco, Gozde Cay, Myeounggon Lee, Jason Garcia, Elia Salazar, Tze-Woei Tan, David G Armstrong, Bijan Najafi

People with diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are commonly prescribed offloading walkers, but inadequate adherence to prescribed use can be a barrier to ulcer healing. This study examined user perspectives of offloading walkers to provide insight on ways to help promote adherence. Participants were randomized to wear: (1) irremovable, (2) removable, or (3) smart removable walkers (smart boot) that provided feedback on adherence and daily walking. Participants completed a 15-item questionnaire based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Spearman correlations assessed associations between TAM ratings with participant characteristics. Chi-squared tests compared TAM ratings between ethnicities, as well as 12-month retrospective fall …

Introduction: The use of dual-task model such as dual-task gait has been extensively studied to assess cognitive-motor performance among older adults. However, space restriction and safety factor limit its applications in remote assessment. To address the gap, we propose a video processing-based approach to remotely quantify cognitive-motor performance using a 20-s repetitive elbow flexion-extension test with dual-task condition, called video-based motoric-cognitive meter (MCM).
Methods: Eighteen older participants (age: 78.6 ± 6.5 years) who were clinically diagnosed as having either mild cognitive impairment or dementia were included in this study. Participants were asked to perform 20-s repetitive elbow flexion-extension exercise with …
Barriers And Facilitators In Implementing Multiplatform Remote Patient Monitoring Of Heart Failure Patients In Clinical Settings, Zachary Andrew Reilly
Barriers And Facilitators In Implementing Multiplatform Remote Patient Monitoring Of Heart Failure Patients In Clinical Settings, Zachary Andrew Reilly

Remote patient monitoring (RPM), which provides continuous monitoring of vital signs, has become increasingly utilized in patients with heart failure (HF). As this condition impacts more than 26 million Americans each year, it is important to determine the barriers and facilitators of RPM to both improve patient care and help medical professionals make more informed medical decisions. To determine these barriers and facilitators, our research team partnered with Prisma Health-Upstate to interview healthcare professionals working at Carolina Cardiology Consultants--Greenville, which uses multiple RPM systems to monitor heart failure patients.
The twelve interviews conducted support that healthcare professionals would benefit from …
A Rollout Of A Blood Pressure Remote Patient Monitoring Program To Improve High-Risk Maternal Outcomes At A Pilot Clinic For Systemwide Expansion, Laura Geron
Seton Hall University Dissertations and Theses (ETDs)
An existing virtual care platform provides an innovative means of early recognition, identification, and intervention for women with elevated blood pressures during pregnancy, known as preeclampsia. A pilot program took place at a Northeastern prenatal care clinic where patients were identified as high-risk for preeclampsia, enrolled, educated by their providers, and equipped with Bluetooth-enabled blood pressure cuffs.
Through remote patient monitoring (RPM) technology, blood pressure readings could transmit from a patient’s residence to a portal accessible by their clinic provider at any time. This doctoral-level quality improvement project focuses on the identification of patients at high-risk for preeclampsia, their enrollment …
A Multi-Level Assessment Of Healthcare Facilities Readiness, Willingness, And Ability To Adopt And Sustain Telehealth Services, Jamie Larson
A Multi-Level Assessment Of Healthcare Facilities Readiness, Willingness, And Ability To Adopt And Sustain Telehealth Services, Jamie Larson
Theses & Dissertations
Telehealth technologies are becoming more pervasive throughout the healthcare system as a way to provide services to patients that would otherwise have difficulty with access. Currently, little is known about the current state of telehealth use within clinics and hospital in the US. Most studies evaluating telehealth programs are feasibility or small patient outcome studies from one location. Utilizing a hybrid framework combining the levels of complex socio-technical systems with the theory of ready, willing and able. The theory of ready, willing, and able is founded on the basis that these three preconditions need to be met for a change …
