INTRODUCTION: The purpose of the current dissertation is to better understand the factors which make an individual willing (or unwilling) to undergo robotic surgery. Though surgical feasibility and provider perceptions are often studied, little research has investigated how patients perceive robotic surgical systems.

METHOD: A two-stage approach was taken in order to build and validate a regression equation in order to predict an individual’s willingness to undergo robotic surgery based on several factors. Background: Process of meeting Uniform Data System (UDS) measures in a west Michigan Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) has several components with different team members sharing responsibility in the process and workflow to document preventative screenings. An evidence-based technology-enhanced patient communication intervention was developed to meet benchmarks for the FQHCs UDS reporting metrics. Maternal deaths in Timor Island, East Nusa Tenggara Province, are one of the contributors to the overall maternal mortality rate (MMR) of Indonesia. The MMR of Western Timor Island was150/100,000 live births in 2015. The aim of this qualitative study was to explore the perceived causes of maternal death due to postpartum hemorrhage. Data were obtained from family members, traditional birth attendants, and Posyandu cadres, as well as health providers. Distinguishing malignant cells from non-neoplastic ones is a major challenge in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) treatment. Here, we developed a complementary targeting strategy that uses precisely matched, multivalent ligand-receptor interactions to recognize and target TNBC tumors at the primary site and metastatic lesions. We screened a panel of cancer cell surface markers and identified intercellular adhesion molecule–1 (ICAM1) and epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR) as optimal candidates for TNBC complementary targeting. Like Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®), the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) is a code set for billing services and procedures. Unlike CPT, HCPCS is also used to bill supplies, products, durable medical equipment (DME), prosthetics, orthotics, outpatient hospital care, ambulance rides, and certain drugs and medicines provided to Medicare patients and private health insurance program beneficiaries. In general, users deploy HCPCS for services, procedures, and equipment not covered by CPT codes.

Personal Health Records (PHRs) is a software application that allows patients to review their medical information remotely through a secure domain. There are four forms of PHRs which are; 1) self-contained Electronic Health Record (EHR), 2) self-contained EHR, 3) PHRs integrated care EHR controlled by health provider and partially by the patient/consumer, 4) PHRs integrated care EHR controlled by the patient/consumer. BACKGROUND

The leading cause of infectious disease death in the United States is community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). Several pneumonia severity indices exist and are widely used as tools to assist physicians regarding site of care based on risk of death. However, limited data exists that discerns which of the most commonly used severity scores is the best predictor of mortality across multiple time points. In 2016, Zexi Wei, a 21-year old Chinese college student died after receiving experimental treatment for synovial sarcoma at the Second Hospital of the Beijing Armed Police Corps. He learned about this treatment from a promoted result on the Chinese search engine Baidu (the equivalent of Google in China), and ultimately discovered that the hospital had misled patients by providing fraudulent information about the treatment's success rate. Wei's death prompted Chinese regulators to investigate Baidu's advertising practices, and drew widespread attention from the public about the ill-regulated practices of online dissemination of health information. Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) is an opportunistic infection caused by the fungus Pneumocystis jirovecii. Infection with P. jirovecii can result in serious illness in patients with a weakened immune system, and can lead to death if it is not properly diagnosed and treated. Direct detection of P. jirovecii in lower respiratory tract specimens such as bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) is preferred for rapid diagnosis, a laboratory service currently not available locally.
