Assessment Of Mandibular Incisive Canal And Anterior Loop In Cone Beam Computed Tomography In Vietnamese Mature Patients: A Retrospective Study, Anh Kha Le, Thao Phuong Tran, Tra Thu Nguyen, Loc Nguyen Gia Pham, Trung Thanh Nguyen, Viet Hoang Do
Journal of Dentistry Indonesia
Objective: This study aimed to assess the anatomical length of the mandibular incisive canal and anterior loop and the distance to surrounding structures. Methods: Our study was conducted on 70 cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) films of 70 Vietnamese adult outpatients (40 females, 30 males) at Hanoi Medical University, Vietnam. T-test was applied to assess the difference between the two sides and genders. Results: The mean length of the mandibular incisive canal (MIC) was 12.83 ± 5.13 mm. The anterior loop (AL) prevalence was 62.86%, with an average length of 2.37 ± 0.90 mm. The difference between the right and …
The Effect Of Orthodontic Treatment With Extraction On The Upper Airway Dimensions And Three-Dimensional Morphology: A Retrospective Study Using Cone-Beam Computed Tomography Technique, Ehsan Mostaghni
Theses & Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of orthodontic treatment with and without extractions of teeth on the upper airway dimension and morphology. Records of 40 consecutively treated patients who received orthodontic treatment with or without dental extractions were evaluated. Pre-and post-treatment volumes, minimum cross-sectional areas, and linear dimensions of oropharyngeal airways were quantified using InVivo Dental 6.0 (Anatomage, San Jose, CA). Additionally, pre and post CBCT images of the upper airways were superimposed on each other using voxel-based registration and fixed coordinate system using 3D Slicer 4.1.1 (www.Slicer.org) and ITK-SNAP (http://www.itksnap.org). While the …
Evaluation Of Maxillary Impacted Teeth And Their Relationship With Adjacent Teeth And Anatomic Structures With Cone Beam Computed Tomography, Emre Köse, Emin Murat Canger
Evaluation Of Maxillary Impacted Teeth And Their Relationship With Adjacent Teeth And Anatomic Structures With Cone Beam Computed Tomography, Emre Köse, Emin Murat Canger
Journal of Dentistry Indonesia
Objective: This study aimed to examine the cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images of impacted maxillary canines and mesiodentes. Methods: This retrospective radiographic study was performed on 177 patients with 200 impacted maxillary canines and 12 mesiodentes. Using CBCT images, the unilateral/bilateral occurrence, presence of root dilaceration, mesio-distal and buccopalatal location, impaction condition, contact region of adjacent teeth, presence and degree of root resorption of adjacent teeth, dental follicle width, closest distance to the nasal cavity, nasopalatinal canal, and maxillary sinus were assessed. For mesiodentes, the types, follicle width, direction, and relationship with anatomical structures were evaluated. Results: No statistical …
Comparison Of External Root Resorption In Orthodontic Treatment Between Self-Ligating And Conventional Bracket Systems, Nuriah Bohari, Noor Airin Koah, Rohana Ahmad
Comparison Of External Root Resorption In Orthodontic Treatment Between Self-Ligating And Conventional Bracket Systems, Nuriah Bohari, Noor Airin Koah, Rohana Ahmad
Journal of Dentistry Indonesia
The relationship between orthodontic bracket systems and external root resorption has remained debatable. Objective: This study compared the magnitude and pattern of the external root resorption of maxillary incisors as induced by self-ligating and conventional bracket systems via cone beam computed tomography and medical imaging programs. Methods: Eight participants were recruited for each bracket system. Their maxillary incisors were scanned at the beginning (T0) and 18 months into treatment (T1). Three-dimensional models of the four maxillary incisors at T0 and T1 were reconstructed using the Mimics program. The difference in root length between T0 and T1 models represented external root …
Orthodontically Induced External Root Resorption In Extraction Versus Non-Extraction Treatment Modalities – A Retrospective Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (Cbct) Study, Jaykishan Patel
Theses & Dissertations
Purpose of this study was to evaluate orthodontically induced external apical root resorption using cone beam computed tomography in patients receiving orthodontic treatment with or without extractions. Records of 188 consecutively treated patients who received orthodontic treatment with or without extractions were evaluated. Pre-and post-treatment root lengths of maxillary incisors, volumes of maxillary central incisors, and apex displacement of either right or left maxillary central incisors were measured using Invivo 5.4 or ITK-SNAP 3.8.0 software. After adjusting for initial length, treatment duration, tooth, sex, race, bracket type, and malocclusion, maxillary incisor reduction of root length in extraction group was 0.37 …
Comparison Between Ceph Analysis On Lateral Cephs, Cbct Scans, And Mri Scans, Jeffrey W. Lam
Comparison Between Ceph Analysis On Lateral Cephs, Cbct Scans, And Mri Scans, Jeffrey W. Lam
Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects
Introduction: Most current methods of obtaining images for orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning involve the use of ionizing radiation. Given that patients often need records taken several times during treatment, an alternative should be found that does not involve ionizing radiation. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exists as a possible alternative. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare cephalometric measurements obtained from lateral cephs, cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans, and MR scans. Methods: Lateral cephs, CBCTs, and MRIs were taken on 22 patients. 3 separate readers traced the images and the data was analyzed using Bland-Altman plots. Results: …
