Treatment Of Gingival Fenestration Using Mucoperiosteal Flap With Connective Tissue Graft: A Report Of Two Cases, Swati Jaglan, Shikha Tewari
Journal of Dentistry Indonesia
Fenestration term is derived from the Latin word ‘fenestra’ means ‘window’. Gingival fenestration is not found in routine while its actual occurrence is assumed to be higher. Additionally, if these mucogingival defects persist for a longer duration it may lead to adverse outcomes like compromised esthetics, hypersensitivity, plaque and calculus deposition, and susceptibility to dental caries. Present cases of gingival fenestration were successfully treated by using full-thickness flap elevation with connective tissue graft placement. Two cases were presented with the accumulation of plaque and calculus and having gingival fenestration to the respective sites. After phase 1 therapy, full thickness flap …

Class Iii Malocclusion Camouflage Treatment Using A Conventional Orthodontic Appliance In A Non-Growing Patient, Fransiska Monika, Retno Widayati
Journal of Dentistry Indonesia
The treatment of skeletal and dental Class III malocclusions is a challenge for orthodontists, and one of the treatment alternatives for a non-growing patient is orthodontic camouflage treatment. Different approaches may result in different outcomes; therefore, a proper diagnosis and treatment plan are needed to avoid undesirable effects. In this case, a 21-year-old female patient presented with a skeletal Class III malocclusion, with a normal maxilla, prognathic mandible, moderate crowding, and an acceptable facial profile. The treatment modality for orthodontic camouflage treatment was a conventional orthodontic appliance with the extraction of mandibular first premolars to resolve crowding. At the end …

Treatment Of Class Iii Malocclusion With Facial Asymmetry And Impacted Second Molar: A Case Report, Wei-Yu Chen, Chen-Jung Chang, Jen-Bang Lo, Pei-Ju Wu, Tung-Yiu Wong
Taiwanese Journal of Orthodontics
Symmetry is an important factor affecting facial attractiveness. The majority of subjects with facial asymmetry also exhibit Class III (CIII) malocclusion. However, the method used for three-dimensional analysis of facial asymmetry remains controversial. The optimal symmetry plane (OSP) method was developed to eliminate the identification errors that occur when using traditional orthodontic landmarks. Orthodontic treatment can become complicated in the presence of mandibular second molar impaction. Several parameters should be taken into consideration during the treatment planning, such as position of impacted tooth relative to anatomical structures and adjacent tooth and preexisting conditions in the impacted teeth. In this report, …

Malocclusions that involve the transverse dimension are very common in the orthodontic office. They can be as simple as a crossbite of the posterior teeth or as severe as a Class III malocclusion with a mandibular asymmetry. Transverse malocclusions can vary from being a simple dento-alveolar problem to a more complex challenge as represented by a skeletal asymmetry that has developed after puberty and causing temporomandibular disorder (TMD) problems. In this review we shall address the most common types of transverse malocclusions and review their etiology and development. The most typical etiology of transverse anomalies will be discussed, and we …
