Assessment Of Mandibular Cortical Bone Thickness For Miniscrew Placement In Relation To The Vertical Facial Patterns Using Cbct (Cross-Sectional Study), Rima Daoui, Aly Osman
Assessment Of Mandibular Cortical Bone Thickness For Miniscrew Placement In Relation To The Vertical Facial Patterns Using Cbct (Cross-Sectional Study), Rima Daoui, Aly Osman
International Arab Journal of Dentistry
Background: The need of more anchorage in the orthodontic daily practice has introduced the use of temporary anchorage devices (TADs). Cortical bone thickness has been one of the major factors on the success rate of the stability of TADs. Different vertical dimension patterns can be found among orthodontic patients with potentially variable cortical bone thickness. Aim of the study: to assess the cortical bone thickness in the posterior region of the mandible in relation to different vertical facial patterns using Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and to evaluate the progressive change in the thickness of cortical bone from 4,6 to 8 …
Is Cutaneous Profile Perception An Indicator Of Skeletal Class Iii Malformation Treatment Plan? A Cross Sectional Study. La Perception Du Profil Cutané Est-Elle Un Indicateur Du Plan De Traitement Des Classe Iii Squelettiques ? Une Étude Transversale., Ibrahim Hatoum, Rania Nassar

Abstract:
Background: The treatment choice in adults with skeletal class III malocclusion represents a challenging task for orthodontists, especially in borderline cases. With the growth spurt being surpassed, the clinician is left between two treatment options: orthodontic camouflage or orthognathic surgery. Around the years, many studies tried to uncover a guide model which enables practitioners to distinguish between skeletal class III that can be appropriately treated by orthodontics alone and those needing surgical intervention.
Aim: The aim of this study is to demonstrate the importance of cutaneous profile perception as a subjective decisive parameter in the treatment of borderline skeletal …

Background: Anchorage is an important consideration for successful orthodontic treatment. Skeletal anchorage by miniscrews provided better anchorage control then the ordinary extra-oral and intra-oral appliances. However, the stability of the miniscrews are still questionable since they might move under orthodontic loading. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of low level laser on the miniscrew displacement when subjected to orthodontic force during canine retraction using CBCT. Methods: Twelve patients who required bilateral extraction of upper first premolar and absolute anchorage were recruited from the outpatient clinics of the Department of Orthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Beirut Arab …

In current decade, patient’s demand of minimal orthodontic treatment have encouraged the introduction of appliance that will be lighter, improved profile and better esthetics with regard to conventional orthodontic treatment. Considering aesthetic treatment options, removable clear aligner treatment got popular among patients since it allows clinician to deliver comprehensive orthodontic treatment while maintaining comfort of patient. The aligners should exert an adequate force in order to shift the tooth to a desirable position. But, in recent times, the relation of applied force and aligner property (eg. thickness) is inadequately witnessed. This article focuses on a patient-focused framework has been formulated …

Background: The spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has led to a major public health issue. This study aimed to assess the factors that influence the Lebanese people in undergoing an orthodontic treatment after the outbreak of COVID-19, as well as the factors that influence their choice of orthodontic appliance type. Methods: 489 Lebanese participants (199 men and 290 women) were invited to fill a questionnaire developed on Google Forms. Eligible participants were simply Lebanese people including those who immigrated during the crisis. Dentists, dental students and foreigners were excluded from the study. The link for the questionnaire was sent …
