The Possible Protective Role Of Vitamin E On The Induced Silver Nanoparticles Toxicity On Filiform And Circumvallate Tongue Papillae Of Albino Rats Histological And Immunohistochemical Study, Nada Tarek Zaki, Mahmoud Al Ankily, Reham Magdy Amin, Ahmed Mahmoud Halawa

Dentistry

Recently Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are widely used as in manufacturing of filters to purify drinking water, as a part of surgical prosthesis, splints, dental alloys and most importantly in the medical field as a bactericidal, fungicidal and as a therapeutic agent. Although these widely usage of AgNPs, can induce toxicity. to evaluate the protective role of vitamin Eon the induced silver nanoparticles toxicity on filiform and circumvallate tongue papillae of albino rats. twenty-eight male albino rats weighing 200-250 grams were divided into; the control and the experimental groups, which is subdivided into, subgroup I receiving AgNPs and subgroup II receiving …

Relation Of Oral Ulcers To Quality Of Life: A Cross-Sectional Study, Enji Ahmed, Ayat Gaml Abdelnasser, Mai Zakaria, Soheir Gafar Dec 2020

Relation Of Oral Ulcers To Quality Of Life: A Cross-Sectional Study, Enji Ahmed, Ayat Gaml Abdelnasser, Mai Zakaria, Soheir Gafar

Dentistry

Oral ulcers affect many dental patients; impairing their lives physically, psychologically, and socially. Due to the absence of information about oral ulcers in our population, the authors undertook a pilot study to obtain a more complete picture of prevalence of oral ulcers, its probable risk factors and its burden on the quality of life. Materials and methods The authors performed a cross‑sectional study with 605 adult dental patients. All patients filled a questionnaire inquiring about the risk factors. An oral examination was performed to each participant to determine presence or absence of oral ulcers; and the type of the oral …

The Effect Of Egf On The Ultrastructure Of Submandibular Salivary Glands Of Albino Rats Receiving Doxorubicin, Mohamed Shamel, Mohamed Mansy, Rabab Mubarak Apr 2020

The Effect Of Egf On The Ultrastructure Of Submandibular Salivary Glands Of Albino Rats Receiving Doxorubicin, Mohamed Shamel, Mohamed Mansy, Rabab Mubarak

Dentistry

Objectives: The present study was designed to detect the outcome of EGF injection on the cytotoxic effect of DXR induced in submandibular SG of rats regarding its ultrastructure. Methods: 30 male Albino rats, two months old and 200gm body weight were divided into three groups. Group I assisted as a control group. Group II (DXRgp), 20 mg/kg body weight DXR was injected intraperitoneally into the rats. Whereas group III (DXR+ EGF) the rats received the same dose of DXR and on the next day, they were injected intraperitoneally with EGF in a daily dose of 10µg/kg bodyweight for 7 consecutive …

Effect Of Different Scaling Methods And Materials On The Enamel Surface Topography: An In Vitro Sem Study, Mohamed Shamel, Mahmoud Bakr, Mahmoud Ankily, Fatma Makkeyah Jan 2020

Effect Of Different Scaling Methods And Materials On The Enamel Surface Topography: An In Vitro Sem Study, Mohamed Shamel, Mahmoud Bakr, Mahmoud Ankily, Fatma Makkeyah

Dentistry

Aims and Objectives: Scaling is important for maintenance of gingival and periodontal conditions. These procedures have a harmful effect on the dental hard tissues. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of hand and ultrasonic instruments made of stainless and titanium on the surface properties of enamel. Materials and Methods: Forty extracted premolars were used in this in vitro study and were randomly divided into four groups (n= 10). Group I received ultrasonic scaling with stainless steel tip, group II received ultrasonic scaling with titanium tip, group III hand scaling with stainless steel tip, and group IV …

The Effect Of Smoking On Clinical Presentation And Expression Of Tlr-2 And Cd34 In Oral Lichen Planus Patients: Clinical And Immunohistochemical Study, Enji Ahmed Mahmoud, Nermin Yousif, Nermin Raouf Jan 2020

The Effect Of Smoking On Clinical Presentation And Expression Of Tlr-2 And Cd34 In Oral Lichen Planus Patients: Clinical And Immunohistochemical Study, Enji Ahmed Mahmoud, Nermin Yousif, Nermin Raouf

Dentistry

Background: Oral lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory disease which is considered as a potential precancerous condition. Numerous studies have confirmed that inflammation is a strong risk factor for cancer development. Smoking is associated with potentially malignant disorders of the oral and oropharyngeal mucosa. The adverse consequences of smoking in various pathologies are mediated by its effects on the immune-inflammatory system. Little is known about the influence of cigarette smoke content on the course of OLP and inflammatory response. Methods: Twenty oral lichen planus smoker patients, 20 oral lichen planus non-smoker patients and 20 control patients were included in this …

Effects Of Aflatoxin B1 On The Submandibular Salivary Gland Of Albino Rats And Possible Therapeutic Potential Of Rosmarinus Officinalis: A Light And Electron Microscopic Study, Mohamed Shamel, Bassant Ashraf Jan 2020

Effects Of Aflatoxin B1 On The Submandibular Salivary Gland Of Albino Rats And Possible Therapeutic Potential Of Rosmarinus Officinalis: A Light And Electron Microscopic Study, Mohamed Shamel, Bassant Ashraf

Dentistry

Background: Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), a highly toxic mycotoxin, is one of the contaminants of food items such as corn, rice, nuts, and flour. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of AFB1 on the histology and ultrastructure of the submandibular salivary glands (SMSG) of albino rats and examine the possible therapeutic effect of Rosmarinus officinalis extract. Methods: This study used 21 adult male albino rats equally divided into three groups as follows: Group C (saline-treated control group); Group A (AFB1 treated group) subjected to intraperitoneal injection of AFB1 (2 mg/kg) once daily for four weeks; Group R …
