Psychosocial And Functional Impact Of Temporomandibular Disorder Subtypes Among Adults: A Cross-Sectional Study In Indonesia, Ni Luh Dewi, Wita Anggraini, Maria Valiente-Lopez, Carolina Marpaung

Journal of Dentistry Indonesia

Background: Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) affect psychological, functional, and pain-related aspects of oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL). However, the differential impact of pain-related and non-pain-related TMDs remains limited. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of different TMD subtypes on psychological distress, jaw function, and OHRQoL in young adults and to determine whether pain-related TMDs exert a greater effect than non-pain-related TMDs.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 278 university students (aged 18–24 years) were categorized into no TMD (NT), pain-related TMD (PT), intra-articular TMD (IT), and combined TMD (CT). Diagnoses were made using the 5Ts Questionnaire screening tool …

Objective To evaluate the effect of ultrasonic irrigation or manual dynamic agitation on postoperative pain in patients with necrotic teeth with symptomatic apical periodontitis using (VAS) scale.

Methods Seventy-eight patients diagnosed with necrotic mandibular first molar with symptomatic apical periodontitis were randomly allocated into 1 of 3 separate groups (n=26); Manual Dynamic Agitation group, Ultra X group, or Navitip group (control). After a single visit root canal treatment and a specific method of agitation, depending on each group, the patients were given a questionnaire on which the patient would mark the degree of pain in a scale from 0 to …

Aim : This study was designated to evaluate the effect of using intracanal cryotherapy versus ultrasonic activated irrigation on postoperative pain in single visit endodontic treatment of mandibular first molar with symptomatic, irreversible pulpitis using numerical rate scale (NRS) at 6, 12, 24, 48,72 hr and 1 week postoperatively.

Materials and Methods: seventy-eight patients diagnosed with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis in mandibular first molar with no periapical involvement. The cases were randomly divided into three groups according to final irrigation protocol after root canal preparation using Pro Taper Next; Groups A, B and C, twenty-six patients each group (n=26). Group A: …

Assessment The Propolis Effect Versus Calcium Hydroxide Effect As Intracanal Medications On Post-Operative Pain In Necrotic Teeth, Engy M. Kataia

Dentistry

Aim: to evaluate the postoperative pain of using Propolis versus Calcium hydrox- ide as intracanal medications on post-operative pain in necrotic teeth. Subjects and Methods: 40 patients requiring endodontic treatment for single rooted teeth were en- rolled in this analysis. The selected patients were separated into two groups with 20 pa- tients each; Group І: Propolis paste. Group II: Ca (OH)2 paste. The local anesthesia was administrated, and the working length determined by Root ZX apex locator, and then confirmed radiographically. The root canals were mechanically prepared in a crown- down approach using the “TF Adaptive” setting on Elements Motor. …
