A Case Series Of Successful Root Amputations And Hemisection: Retaining Compromised Teeth With Perio-Endodontic Lesion, Mohd Nazrin Isa, Nurul Ain Ramlan, Afzan Adilah Ayoub, Muhammad Hilmi Zainal Ariffin

Journal of Dentistry Indonesia

Case report: This case report presents three successful approaches for preserving a tooth through root amputation or hemisection. Patients were referred to the Periodontic Department due to mobility of teeth and swelling of the upper left first molar, upper right first molar and lower right first molar with considerably good oral hygiene. Patients were diagnosed with generalized severe periodontitis associated with perio-endodontic lesions. Therefore, non-surgical root canal treatment (NSRCT) was carried out prior to periodontal treatment, followed by surgical root resection (RR) of the distobuccal (DB) root of the upper left first molar, root resection of the distobuccal (DB) root …

Resin-Build-Up As A Direct Monoblock Concept For Root Canal Dentin, Core, And Crown Restoration On Anterior Endodontically Treated Tooth, Citra Kusumasari, Takashi Hatayama, Junji Tagami, Yasushi Shimada Prof. Aug 2024

Resin-Build-Up As A Direct Monoblock Concept For Root Canal Dentin, Core, And Crown Restoration On Anterior Endodontically Treated Tooth, Citra Kusumasari, Takashi Hatayama, Junji Tagami, Yasushi Shimada Prof.

Journal of Dentistry Indonesia

The long-term clinical performance of restoration in endodontically treated teeth (ETT) is an essential yet complicated strategy to achieve it. A resin-build-up tooth with higher elastic moduli is a minimally invasive strategy to decrease the risk of catastrophic root fracture. Additionally, intracanal resin composite anchorage simplifies the restorative procedure and increases the bonding. Objective: This case report describes a resin-build-up tooth restoration using the direct monoblock concept to replace a failed metal post and core and porcelain fused to metal (PFM) crown on the maxillary right central incisor. Case report: A 50-year-old man attended a dental university hospital …

Current Trends In The Management Of Endodontic Emergencies, Asmi Shah

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)

Introduction: The management of endodontic emergencies has changed over the last few decades and varies from practice to practice. This is due to the development of new materials, new irrigation techniques, and new evidence-based research which supports clinical success. An updated questionnaire is necessary to further advance the clinical knowledge in endodontic emergencies based on current practices. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to determine the difference practice modalities between members who are board certified, who are not board certified, and endodontic graduate residents.

Materials and Methods: In 2021, every member of the American Association of Endodontics …

Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness of a Chlorhexidine soaked cotton pellet on bacterial leakage.

Methods: Fifty-one extracted teeth, including six controls, were instrumented, obturated, and sealed with either a cotton pellet (CP), 2% Chlorhexidine soaked cotton pellet (CHX), or a Permaflo orifice barrier (OB). Each root was suspended between two chambers: the …

Use Of Cone Beam Computed Tomography In The Determination Of Mental Foramen Location In Relation To Mandibular 1st And 2nd Premolars, Sanjay Bhagchandani May 2010

Use Of Cone Beam Computed Tomography In The Determination Of Mental Foramen Location In Relation To Mandibular 1st And 2nd Premolars, Sanjay Bhagchandani

Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this study was to use existing Cone Beam Computer Tomography images to determine the vertical and horizontal location of the mental foramen in relation to the mandibular first and second premolars, as well as the distance in millimeters from the apex of each. The distance from the inferior border of the foramen to the inferior border of the mandible was also recorded. The average distance from the apices of the mandibular first and second premolars to the mental foramen was 7.43mm (SD= 1.97) and 5.30mm (SD=1.65) respectively. The foramen was located 11.44mm (SD=1.49) from the inferior border …
