Journal of Dentistry Indonesia
Stress is a known risk factor for Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD), however there are few studies of TMD in people who work in high stress jobs. Accounting is a profession known for its high levels of stress and expectation. Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the intensity and frequency of job related stress and the occurrence of TMD in accountants in Jakarta. Methods: A cross-sectional study, with ethics approval from the Ethical Committee of the Faculty of Dentistry, University Indonesia, was performed on 116 accountants aged 21 to 50, living in Jakarta. Subjects were asked …
Torsion And Bending Properties Of Edgeendo Files, Chad Hansen
Torsion And Bending Properties Of Edgeendo Files, Chad Hansen
Master's Theses (2009 -)
Introduction: One important step of root canal therapy is the process of cleaning and shaping each canal. This process involves using endodontic rotary files combined with chemical irrigants to remove pulpal remnants and infected dentin from the canal while eliminating pathogenic bacteria. It is essential to maintain proper canal anatomy while cleaning and shaping. The challenge for the practitioner is to select a rotary file system that will be flexible enough to maintain canal anatomy but strong enough to prevent breakage under normal use. File flexibility allows for better maintenance of canal anatomy. A file’s resistance to torsional fatigue reduces …
Outcomes Of Primary Endodontic Therapy Provided By Endodontic Specialists Compared To Other Providers, Jacob Burry
Outcomes Of Primary Endodontic Therapy Provided By Endodontic Specialists Compared To Other Providers, Jacob Burry
Master's Theses (2009 -)
Introduction: The objective of this study was to compare the outcomes of initial non-surgical root canal therapy (NSRCT) for different tooth types provided by both endodontists and other providers. Methods: Using an insurance company database, 487,476 initial NSRCT procedures were followed from the time of treatment to the presence of an untoward event indicated by Current Dental Terminology (CDT) codes for retreatment, apical surgery, or extraction. Population demographics were computed for provider type and tooth location. Kaplan-Meier survival estimates were calculated for 1, 5, and 10 years. Hazard ratios for provider type and tooth location were calculated using the Cox …
Viability Of Human Periodontal Ligament Fibroblasts After Storage In Save-A-Tooth, Emt Toothsaver And Hank's Balanced Salt Solution, Wonhee Lee
Master's Theses (2009 -)
Introduction: Viability of periodontal ligament (PDL) cells is a key prognostic factor fora replanted tooth following avulsion. Dehydration results death of PDL cells, which in turn causes ankylosis upon replantation, followed by replacement resorption. Hank’s Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS) has been recommended as the standard storage medium for an avulsed tooth. Save-A-Tooth and EMT Tooth saver (Dentosafe)are commercially available tooth storage media. With the best of our knowledge no study has yet compared these media for their effective tooth storage times. The aim of this invitro study is to evaluate Save-A-Tooth, EMT Toothsaver (Dentosafe), and HBSS for their effect on …

Evaluation Of Resin Sealer Penetration Of Dentin Following Different Final Rinses For Endodontic Irrigation Using Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy, Omar Ezzaldin Abusteit
MUSC Theses and Dissertations
Introduction: The aim of the study was to directly assess the depth of sealer penetration into dentinal tubules following different final rinses and indirectly evaluate precipitation of irrigating solutions. Materials and Methods: 52 extracted maxillary incisors were prepared to size 40/04 crown down with 6% sodium hypochlorite irrigating solution. Teeth were randomly divided into 4 groups (n=13) according to the final rinse. Group 1- 17% EDTA, saline and 2% Chlorhexidine solution; Group 2- SmearOFFâ„¢; Group 3- QMix®; Group 4- control with saline. Each final rinse was 3 ml over 1 minute placed with a 30-gauge needle 3 mm short from …
The Incidence Of Root Dentinal Micro-Cracks Caused By Reciprocating And Continuous Rotary Instrumentation, Stephen N. Schroeder
The Incidence Of Root Dentinal Micro-Cracks Caused By Reciprocating And Continuous Rotary Instrumentation, Stephen N. Schroeder
Theses and Dissertations
The aim of this study was to compare the incidence of root canal dentinal micro-cracks after canal instrumentation using reciprocating files (WaveOne Gold® and Twisted Adaptive®) and continuous rotation files (Edge Evolve® and EndoSequence®) in an ex-vivo benchtop study. This project used a novel methodology of finding dentinal defects using the “K-cube”, which allows evaluators to visualize sectioned root surfaces before instrumentation and after instrumentation. Mesial roots from 40 human mandibular first molars were divided into 4 groups of 10 for each file type. Root section pictures were taken with a Zeiss Discovery V20 stereomicroscope before and after canal instrumentation. …
Comparison Of Treatment Planning Decisions When Combining Cbct And Digital Radiography Verses Digital Radiography Alone, Mckay Barlow Packer
Comparison Of Treatment Planning Decisions When Combining Cbct And Digital Radiography Verses Digital Radiography Alone, Mckay Barlow Packer
Theses and Dissertations
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is the recommended imaging modality of choice for evaluating previous endodontic treatment (1). The aim of this study was to compare treatment planning decisions made when evaluating previous endodontic treatment to determine if treatment planned and projected prognosis differs when digital radiography is used alone or in combination with CBCT. A retrospective chart review was conducted. Patients for whom a CBCT was taken were included in the study. Twenty-eight patients qualified. Patient’s periapical digital radiographs (Dexis©) were evaluated by 2 calibrated endodontists, a treatment plan was identified and a prognosis was projected. Later the same …
