Clinical Abstract Introduction. Osteoblastomas are benign primary bone tumors that rarely arise in the jawbones. Often displaying features that make them difficult to discern from other bone-forming lesions, osteoblastomas may be aggressive in nature, making their expeditious diagnosis and detection crucial to maximize functional and aesthetic outcomes. Dental Therapy In Washington State: Exploring Dental Hygienists’ Perceptions And Attitudes Towards An Emerging Workforce Model, Soy Mouy Gearheart

Purpose: This study examines dental hygienists' perceptions of dental therapy in Washington State. Methods: A cross-sectional survey utilizing a Likert-scale questionnaire was conducted among dental hygienists recruited from Washington State Dental Jobs Facebook groups. Descriptive statistics and cross-tabulation analysis examined key variables. Results:Of the 46 participants (n=46), 72% reported that they believed dental therapy could improve access to care in underserved areas. Concerns about current educational standards for safe practice were noted. 11% expressed interest in pursuing a dental therapy degree within the next five years, motivated by interest and career opportunities. Importance Maternal periodontitis has been consistently linked to adverse birth outcomes. However, a causal relationship is not established due to potential unmeasured confounding factors in observational studies and inconclusive results from randomized controlled trials.

Objective To assess the impact of unmeasured confounding factors in meta-analyses examining associations between maternal periodontal disease and preterm birth or low birth weight.

Data Sources PubMed/Medline, the Cochrane database for systematic reviews, Embase, Google Scholar, and a manual search of the reported references between 2002 and 2023.

In Finland, the frequency of isolated cleft palate (CP) is higher than that of isolated cleft lip with or without cleft palate (CL/P). This trend contrasts to that in other European countries but its genetic underpinnings are unknown. We conducted a genome-wide association study in the Finnish population and identified rs570516915, a single nucleotide polymorphism highly enriched in Finns, as strongly associated with CP (P = 5.25 × 10-34, OR = 8.65, 95% CI 6.11-12.25), but not with CL/P (P = 7.2 × 10-5), with genome-wide significance. Introduction

The objective of this study was to evaluate the short-term and long-term hard-tissue changes with miniscrew-assisted rapid palatal expansion (MARPE) and rapid palatal expansion (RPE) compared with a matched control group with voxel-based superimposition using 3-dimensional cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans.

Methods

A total of 180 CBCT scans were analyzed for 60 patients with a mean age of 13.9 years at 3 time points: pretreatment (T1), postexpansion (T2), and posttreatment (T3). The pyogenic granuloma is a benign vascular proliferation which may present either on the skin or intraorally. While the majority of oral pyogenic granulomas remain less than 1 cm in size, they can grow to large sizes if care is neglected. Herein, we report case of a large pyogenic granuloma on the mandibular alveolar ridge gingiva which grew to 10x10cm in size due to failure to seek treatment.
