Objective: This study aimed to evaluate cuspal deflection (CD) and fracture resistance (FR) of maxillary premolars with Mesio-occluso-distal (MOD) cavities and restored with conventional and bulk-fill resin composites. Materials and Methods: One conventional (Filtek Z350XT) and two recent bulk-fill (Aura, and Reveal HD) resin composites were used. A total number of 120 maxillary premolars were used in this study. For CD test, 45 maxillary premolars prepared with standardized MOD cavity preparations and were divided into three groups (n=15). These data are from observations on antemortem tooth loss and the presence of carious lesions from the site of Deir el-Medina, Egypt. The data were collected by Anne Austin and Mélie Louys as part of the mission of the Institut Français d’Archéologie Orientale at the site during the 2012-14 and 2019-20 field seasons. These data were derived from human remains found in Theban Tombs 6, 217, 290, and 298. They are estimated to date from 1550-945 BCE. These data include macroscopic observations from 32 mandibles and 44 maxillae consisting of 485 observable teeth and 1,052 observable tooth sockets. Any mandibles …

Titanium implants affected by peri-implantitis lesions are often treated non-surgically with various instruments, which may produce titanium particles that can become lodged within the peri-implant mucosa. Thus, a foreign body reaction may ensue. The aim is to assess the embedment of titanium particles into soft tissues from titanium implants via a stainless-steel ultrasonic scaler (SSU) versus a titanium hand scaler (TH). Sand-blasted, large grit, acid-etched surface-treated titanium implants were implanted into pig legs after creating peri-implantitis defects. Each implant was subjected to only one instrument type. Methods: Two hundred Egyptian endodontists holding a minimum of a master's degree were invited to participate in an online survey in March 2021. Materials and Methods: Forty enamel specimens of primary second molar were prepared and immersed in demineralizing solution for 96 hours to induce artificial carious lesions. OBJECTIVE: The study evaluated use of a multipoint saliva analyzer to assess patient wellness in a contemporary dental practice setting.

STUDY DESIGN: Unstimulated saliva from a diverse 104 patient cohort was analyzed using the SillHa Oral Wellness System. The device measures the following 7 analytes present in the patient's oral rinse: cariogenic bacteria, acidity, buffer capacity, blood, leukocytes, protein, and ammonia. Data obtained were compared with validated clinical assessment data independently provided by credentialed dental professionals.

This 10-Minute EBD column explores the potential association between neoplasms and the risk of peri-implantitis in patients with dental implants. A case study involving a patient with a history of an ossifying fibroma raises questions about the impact of neoplasms on implant success. The literature search, conducted on PubMed, reveals relevant insights. The evidence suggests that ossifying fibromas, particularly with augmentation, may pose a risk for peri-implantitis. However, the direct causative relationship between neoplasms and peri-implant pathology remains unclear. Other risk factors such as periodontitis, foreign bodies, and augmentation procedures are also discussed in the context of implant complications.

Chronic Periodontitis (ChP) is an inflammatory condition that results from oral dysbiosis and host immune dysfunction. Epidemiologic evidence has shown that men are more susceptible to ChP than women. Despite gender differences in behavior and socioeconomic status influencing oral health, the biological sex-associated immunological mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of ChP are unclear. Tooth movement is characterized by bone deposition at sites of tension and bone resorption at pressure sites. Due to a sterile inflammatory process in the PDL space, a flow rate of gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) is increased and its composition is modified. Various cell-signaling pathways are activated, which ultimately stimulate PDL turnover. It plays an integral role in embryonic development, wound healing and cancer progression. During EMT, epithelial cells lose their cellular polarity due to the loss of intercellular adhesion and acquire migratory and invasive characteristics associated with mesenchymal cells. Sjögren's syndrome (SjS) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by immune cell infiltration of the exocrine glands, mainly the salivary and lacrimal glands. Despite recent advances in the clinical and mechanistic characterization of the disease, its etiology remains largely unknown. Here, we report that mice with a deficiency for either Atg7 or Atg3, which are enzymes involved in the ubiquitin modification pathway, in the salivary glands exhibit a SjS-like phenotype, characterized by immune cell infiltration with autoantibody detection, acinar cell death, and dry mouth.
