Objective: To disclose the variation in EZH2 expression among the different grades of MEC and to analyze the marker's immunohistochemical (IHC) expression in relation to the clinicopathologic data of all cases. Material and methods: The present study was conducted on 15 blocks diagnosed as MEC including equal numbers of different grades. These blocks were selected from the archives of the Oncology Center, Mansoura University. The specimens embedded in the retrieved paraffin blocks were all fixed in 10% formalin. Objectives: To evaluate the effect of food simulating solvents on surface roughness and microhardness of bulk fill resin composites in-vitro. Materials and methods: A total of 180 discs were made with (Filtek One bulk fill, REVEAL HD and x-tra fil bulk fill (n=60). The baseline data of surface roughness and microhardness measurements were recorded. A 64-year old male presented to our institution with painful ophthalmoplegia. The initial differential diagnosis included orbital apex disorders, such as orbital apex syndrome (OAS), cavernous sinus thrombosis (CST), and superior orbital fissure syndrome (SOFS). Ultimately, the diagnosis was acute invasive fungal rhinosinusitis (AIFRS) secondary to an odontogenic infection from carious teeth in the maxilla. Significant overlap exists between AIFRS and orbital apex disorders, making it prudent to include AIFRS in the differential diagnosis for painful ophthalmoplegia. Background: Oral lichen planus is an immune mediated mucosal disorder affecting up to 2% of the population. Dysplasia has been known to develop in 0.1% to 1% of patients with lichen planus. This necessitates close surveillance for the development of atypical lesions.

Case: Described is the case of a 68-year-old female patient with oral lichen planus who developed a non-healing ulceration on her right lateral tongue. Out of concern for neoplasia, a biopsy was performed. Histopathologic report indicated features consistent with traumatic ulcerative granuloma. The lesion did not return.

Conclusions: Oral lichen planus is a common mucosal disease. Although uncommon, …

Purpose: Coronally advanced split-or full-thickness (CAST or CAFT) flaps in combination with subepithelial connective tissue grafts (SCTGs) are commonly used in root-coverage procedures despite postoperative pain and bleeding from the graft donor site. Therefore, the modified vestibular incision subperiosteal tunnel access procedure (VISTAX) uses a novel collagen matrix (VCMX) instead of autogenous tissue to address the limitations associated with autogenous tissue grafting. This retrospective study compared the clinical outcomes of VISTAX to the results obtained after using a CAST or CAFT flap in combination with SCTG for root coverage.

The purpose of this review was to appraise the quality of evidence of the existing publications on IR, and to perform a meta-analysis on the treatment outcomes of IR.

Methods

The specific PIO questions were as follows: Population: Patients with periapical periodontitis either before or after nonsurgical endodontic therapy. Intervention: IR performed with retrograde preparation and retrograde filling. Outcomes: the healing, treatment complications, and the factors influencing these outcomes after IR. PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this study is to identify if there is an underlying genetic predisposition for COVID-related macroglossia and if this susceptibility is higher among individuals of African heritage. Secondary objectives include determining if genetic testing of COVID-infected patients who are intubated and prone could identify patients with higher susceptibility to the development of macroglossia.

METHODS: A retrospective chart review was completed for each patient, and prospectively, genetic and histopathologic analyses were completed. Whole-exome sequencing was completed on two patients; immunohistochemistry was completed on the COVID-positive tissue samples.

In endochondral bone development, bone-forming osteoblasts and bone marrow stromal cells have dual origins in the fetal cartilage and its surrounding perichondrium. However, how early perichondrial cells distinctively contribute to developing bones remain unidentified. Here we show using in vivo cell-lineage analyses that Dlx5+ fetal perichondrial cells marked by Dlx5-creER do not generate cartilage but sustainably contribute to cortical bone and marrow stromal compartments in a manner complementary to fetal chondrocyte derivatives under the regulation of Hedgehog signaling.
