Purpose: This systematic review compares the clinical and radiographic outcomes for patients who received only a corticotomy or periodontal accelerated osteogenic orthodontics (PAOO) with those who received a conventional orthodontic treatment. Methods: An electronic search of four databases and a hand search of peer‐reviewed journals for relevant articles published in Eng-lish between January 1980 and June 2021 were performed. Human clinical trials of ≥ 10 patients treated with a corticotomy or PAOO with radiographic and/or clinical outcomes were included. This 19-year-old female presents anterior open bite with skeletal Class II jaw relation. The treatment modality was non-surgical treatment with 4-bicuspid extraction and molar intrusion by full-mouth fixed edgewise appliances and temporary anchorage devices. A favorable result of ideal overbite/overjet and improvement of profile change were achieved. The patient was satisfied with the improvement of function and esthetics after treatment.

Hemimandibular hyperplasia is a developmental asymmetry characterized by 3-dimensional enlargement in one half of the mandible. The malformation results in facial asymmetry, associated with tilted occlusal plane and a deviated chin to the contralateral side. These cause esthetic and progressive functional problems and need to be corrected without recurrence.

This report describes a 27-year-old woman presented with skeletal Class III malocclusion, occlusal plane cant and facial asymmetry. A unilateral buccal crossbites can be observed in adult patients with skeletal asymmetry and crowded dentition. This case report describes the orthodontic treatment with clear aligners for a 57-year-old female with chin deviation, lower dentition crowding and a unilateral complete buccal crossbite in right premolars. Mandibular single incisor extraction was planned to relieve crowding and the crossbite was resolved by intrusion of upper premolar and uprighting of lower premolar with clear aligners in combined with inter-arch elastic. This case report illustrates a surgery-first treatment for surgical correction of Class II malocclusion. A 54- year-old female, presenting a chief complaint of deep bite and gum biting, came to seek for treatment. She had skeletal Class II and dental Class II malocclusion with 11 mm excessive overjet. Intraoral examination revealed large mandibular curve of Spee. Treatment was performed with a surgery-first approach, moving the dentition towards edge-to-edge bite, followed by extruding mandibular posterior teeth and normalizing the overjet and overbite. The objective of this study was to use high-resolution cone-beam computed images (hr-CBCT) to diagnose degenerative joint disease in asymptomatic and symptomatic subjects using the Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders DC/TMD imaging criteria. This observational study comprised of 92 subjects age-sex matched and divided into two groups: clinical degenerative joint disease (c-DJD, n = 46) and asymptomatic control group (n = 46). Clinical assessment of the DJD and high-resolution CBCT images (isotropic voxel size of 0.08mm) of the temporomandibular joints were performed for each participant. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA) were developed to reduce or prevent many types of chronic illness, including cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Healthcare provider recommendations may be influenced by understanding of and adherence to the DGA, which may be incorporated into provider training, medical and dental clinical curricula—although few studies have evaluated adherence to the DGA among dental students. This approved retrospective study of voluntary student responses from a first-year dental school nutrition course included a short dietary and exercise survey administered as part of the DGA learning module. Coronal preflaring NiTi files should possess proper hardness, resistance to fracture and flexibility. This study compared the bending resistance and cyclic fatigue resistance of three orifice preflaring NiTi files. HyFlex EDM Orifice opener (#25/12), HyFlex CM (#25/08) and One Flare (#25/09) were tested (n = 46/instrument). This study investigated if non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma (NTAPP) treatment of root dentin surfaces promotes human dental pulp stem cell (hDPSCs) adhesion. Freshly extracted human single-rooted teeth (n = 36) were decoronated and cut (first vertically, then horizontally) into root dentin slices (3 mm thick). Primary hDPSCs cultures were seeded onto slices randomly assigned to pretreatment groups (n = 9/group): NaOCl (1.5%), EDTA (17%) then NTAPP (Group I); NaOCl then NTAPP (Group II); NaOCl then EDTA (Group III); and NaOCl alone (Group IV). Previous studies have indicated that probiotics are effective against dental pathogens; however, few approaches provide sustained-delivery of active agents in the oral cavity. Hypothesis: Probiotics will limit P. gingivalis effects on Telomerase Immortalized Gingival Keratinocyte (TIGK) cells and 3D-printed scaffolds will prolong probiotic release. Methods: Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus reuteri, and Bifidobacterium bifidum were assessed with adhesion and antibiotic protection assays to limit P. gingivalis effects on TIGKs. Although tobacco cessation is an uphill battle for almost everyone who attempts to quit, it is important that dental hygienists do not assume that patients are not interested. Dental hygienists are in an ideal position to offer cessation help to their tobacco using patients. The purpose of this study was to gain a better understanding of the tobacco cessation practices among central Texas dental hygienists. Specifically, dental hygienists were asked about beliefs, motivation, and confidence with regard to their tobacco cessation practice. Patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) are at increased risk of aspiration pneumonia, their primary cause of death. Their oral microbiota differs from healthy controls, exacerbating this risk.
