The aim of this study was to determine the change in working length (∆WL) before and after coronal flaring and after complete rotary instrumentation as a function of canal curvature. One mesiobuccal or mesiolingual canal from each of 43 extracted molars had coronal standardization and access performed. Once the access was completed, canal preparation was accomplished using Gates Glidden drills for coronal flaring and EndoSequence files for rotary instrumentation. WLs were obtained at 3 time points: pre-instrumentation (unflared), mid-instrumentation (flared) and post-instrumentation (concluded). Objective: To investigate and compare the characteristics of human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) among 3 different stem cell sources in periodontium; periodontal ligament (PDL) tissue, marginal gingival tissue (MG), and supra-crestal gingival connective tissue (SG). Materials and Methods: PDL-MSCs, MG-MSCs, and SG-MSCs were obtained from 4 subjects with healthy periodontal condition. The characteristics of 3 types of MSCs were compared in terms of an expression of MSCs markers, colony-forming ability (CFA), cell proliferation, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity, osteogenic and adipogenic potential. การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาอัตราการอยู่รอดของฟันน้ำนมที่ได้รับการรักษาพัลเพคโตมี โดยใช้เครื่องรูทซีเอ็กซ์กำหนดความยาวทำงาน ภายใต้การดมยาสลบและการใช้ยาชาเฉพาะที่ และศึกษาปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อการอยู่รอดของฟันน้ำนมที่ได้รับการรักษาพัลเพคโตมี โดยทำการศึกษาย้อนหลังจากข้อมูลจากเวชระเบียนของผู้ป่วยเด็กอายุต่ำกว่า 5 ปี ที่มารับการรักษาที่คณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2550 - 2559 และมีฟันที่ได้รับการรักษาพัลเพคโตมีภายใต้การดมยาสลบหรือการใช้ยาชาเฉพาะที่อย่างน้อย 1 ซี่ในช่องปาก โดยกำหนดให้ความล้มเหลวของการรักษาพัลเพคโตมีคือฟันต้องได้รับการถอนหรือรักษารากฟันซ้ำในภายหลังเนื่องจากการรักษาพัลเพคโตมีล้มเหลว และวันที่ได้รับการวินิจฉัยให้ถูกถอนหรือรักษารากฟันซ้ำเป็นวันที่สิ้นสุดการติดตามการรักษา การศึกษาครั้งนี้ประเมินอัตราการอยู่รอดโดยใช้สถิติแคแพลน-ไมเออร์และวิเคราะห์ปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อการอยู่รอดโดยใช้สถิติล็อค-แรงค์และตัวแบบถดถอยค็อกซ์ ผลการศึกษาพบว่ามีฟันน้ำนมที่ถูกคัดเลือกเข้ามาในการศึกษาทั้งหมด 272 ซี่ และเมื่อติดตามผลการรักษาเป็นเวลา 5 ปีหลังการรักษาพบว่ามีฟันน้ำนมทั้งหมด 25 ซี่ที่ถูกถอนหรือรักษารากฟันซ้ำเนื่องจากการรักษาพัลเพคโตมีล้มเหลว และมีอัตราการอยู่รอดของฟันที่ได้รับการรักษาภายใต้การดมยาสลบและการใช้ยาชาเฉพาะที่เท่ากับร้อยละ 81.4 และ 87.4 ตามลำดับ ซึ่งไม่แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p≥0.05) ผลการวิเคราะห์ตัวแบบถดถอยค็อกซ์พบว่าการมีเงาดำบริเวณปลายรากหรือง่ามรากฟันในภาพรังสีก่อนการรักษาเป็นปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการอยู่รอดของฟันที่ได้รับการรักษาพัลเพคโตมีที่ระยะเวลา 5 ปีหลังการรักษา (HRadj= 3.95, 95%CI = 1.31-11.86) การศึกษานี้แสดงให้เห็นว่าการรักษาฟันน้ำนมด้วยวิธีพัลเพคโตมีเป็นวิธีที่สามารถเก็บรักษาฟันน้ำนมที่ผุลุกลามถึงเนื้อเยื่อในไว้ในช่องปากได้นานและมีอัตราการอยู่รอดที่สูงทั้งในการรักษาภายใต้การดมยาสลบและการใช้ยาชาเฉพาะที่

Purpose: This was a pilot study assessing the impact of a sensory adapted dental environment (SADE) on children with developmental disabilities (DD) receiving routine dental care.

Methods: A crossover study of 22 children with DD, aged 6 through 21, was conducted at Virginia Commonwealth University Pediatric Dental clinic. Each participant was randomized to a sequence of two dental cleanings, one regular dental environment (RDE) and one SADE with a 3-4-month recall. Outcomes included physiological measures (heart rate and oxygen saturation) and cooperation (Frankl scores).

Background: Directing autogenous Mesenchymal Stem Cell (MSC) to defect sites has a great promise in bone regeneration. We designed a MSC specific, bone affinity peptide (E7HA7) by conjugating E7 with a polyglutamate hydroxyapatite (HA) binding motif. We sought to characterize the in-vivo releasing pattern and bioactivity of E7HA7. Methods: HA discs were coated with fluorescent labeled peptides E7HA7, E7HA2 or E7 were subcutaneously implanted in Sprague Dawley rats. In an ectopic bone formation model was used to test the in-vivo bioactivity of E7HA7 conjugated to DBM. Introduction: The aim of this in vitro study was two part. The first being to assess and compare the amount of dentin removed by an instrument with a taper of 0.04 versus an instrument with a taper of 0.06 using the Edge Evolve® file system at different increments within the canal system. Secondly, this study evaluated whether instrumentation with either taper resulted in a remaining dentin thickness (RDT) of less than 0.3mm. Introduction: This in vitro study evaluates the home bleaching treatment effect on the surface corrosion of stainless steel orthodontic brackets. Materials and Methods: Three types of brackets, 3M Unitek (U), Dentaurum (D) and Tomy (T), were immersed in either one of six bleaching treatments at 37 ℃ for 28 days. After immersion, the amounts of iron, chromium, and nickel ions released from the brackets were detected using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The case reported the use of improved super-elastic Ti-Ni alloy wire (ISW), which was developed by Tokyo Medical and Dental University, to correct a case of Angle Class II division 2 case with unstable mandibular position. An adult 28-year old women came to our clinic with a chief complaint of poor dental alignment. Clinical examination revealed a Class II division 2 malocclusion. Design: This is a case-control study. 60 subjects were equally divided into patients with and without oral lichen planus. They were further subdivided into hepatitis C virus seropositive and seronegative patients. There are several factors which can contribute to an increase in caries and missing teeth. One of the most discussed mechanisms is xerostomia. This report illustrates a 20 years old female presented a Class II division 2 malocclusion with deep overbite, gummy smile, canted maxillary anterior occlusal plane, low mandibular plane angle and bilateral scissors-bite. Angle's Class II division 2 malocclusion needs to be treated by correcting the inclination of maxillary incisors and lower lip posture. Selective bonding of maxillary anterior teeth and molars were performed to level the occlusal plane and gingival line, thus creating a consonant smile arc. Purpose: This study used a survey of program directors and program chairs to analyze relationships related to curriculum development for a dental hygiene-based dental therapist and the question of how external variables affect allied health workforce development and implementation.

Methods: A survey instrument was utilized to help identify the relationship between a dental hygiene-based dental therapist curriculum and the external influences of future needs of the dental hygiene profession and workforce; external influences; and institutional influences on curriculum design and implementation using Spearman’s rho testing.
