Surgical treatment of craniofacial bone abnormalities, caused by head and neck cancers, bone fractures, congenital deformities and periodontal diseases, involves the reconstruction using bone graft implantation. Due to limitations and complications from the use of autogenic and allogenic bone grafts, synthetic bonelike ceramics have therefore become widely used, particularly for hydroxyapatite (HA), which has been used for a multitude of medical applications. Objective: To test the vertical and horizontal tensile forces of the locking part of a novel Unassisted Mandibular Advancement (UMA) Splint. Materials and methods: Twenty samples, each comprising a lower piece and an upper piece with an expansion screw, were prepared. The samples were divided into 4 groups (n=5): 1) non-expanded screw group for vertical force test (NEVT), 2) 5-mm-expanded screw group for vertical force test (5EVT), 3) non-expanded screw group for horizontal force test (NEHT), and 4) 5-mm-expanded screw group for horizontal force test (5EHT). Background/objectives: To evaluate the mechanical and physical properties of a self-cured methyl methacrylate (MMA)-based orthodontic base-plate material after 50°C water immersion in ultrasonic bath and conventional monomer reduction methods. Materials and methods: Twenty-four rectangular and twenty-four disc shaped specimens of an MMAbased orthodontic base-plate material were prepared, and randomly divided into four groups (n=6): Group I, untreated controls; Groups II and III, immersed in room temperature water for 24 and 72 hours respectively; and Groups IV immersed in 50°C water in an ultrasonic bath (100 Watts, 40 kHz) for 10 minutes. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate developmental stages of the radius bone and compare it with the chronological age of Thai population. Methods: Three hundred hand and wrist radiographs (150 males, 150 females) of subjects (age 7-20 years) were retrospectively collected. The developmental stages of the distal end of the radius bone were modified from Tanner-Whitehouse 3 and categorized into 4 stages: 1) non-capping, 2) capping, 3) partial fusion and 4) complete fusion. Introduction: An optimal orthodontic bonding system must minimize damage to the enamel during conditioning, have enough bond strength to prevent bracket de-bonding during treatment, and allow bracket removal at treatment completion, such that minimal damage is inflicted to the tooth.1 Pumice followed by acid etching has been the standard for many years; however, Groman Inc. The purpose of this in vitro study is to compare the translucency and flexural strength of high translucency zirconia with conventional zirconia and lithium disilicate ceramics, all of which are options for indirect dental restorative applications. Methods: Three dental ceramic materials were selected: Group 1: conventional zirconia; group 2: high translucent zirconia; and group 3: lithium disilicate glass-ceramic. Objective. This study compared the cutting efficiency of different diamond rotary cutting instruments on twoceramic materials when used with an electric handpiece versus an air-turbine handpiece. The amount of surface roughness exhibited by an electric hand-piece was also evaluated in comparison with an air-turbine hand-piece, when used to cut through ceramic restorative materials in a simulated crown removal procedure. The aim of this review is to provide the fundamental basis and scientific evidence for the so-called “structural technique.” In this article we will discuss the benefits and challenges of this technique as well as present and compare it to the so-called “best fit” technique. Furthermore, we will introduce the three parts of the analysis, most commonly used for evaluation of growth and treatment changes. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, or SLE, is a chronic autoimmune disease which significantly affects various organs of the body and the oral cavity. According to various studies, SLE can cause an increased risk of periodontitis, fungal infections, and dental caries within the oral cavity. Periodontitis is an inflammatory condition mediated by an infectious etiology which affects the supporting tissues of the periodontium and alveolar bone. The objective of our study was to estimate work or school hours lost to dental visits among adults aged 18 and older by the types of visits (emergency or unplanned; routine, planned, or orthodontic; or cosmetic) and to determine the factors associated with hours lost.

Objective: Develop methodology to estimate the annual cost of resources used by school sealant programs (SSPs) and demonstrate its use.

Methods: We used existing literature and expert opinion to identify SSP cost components and the most appropriate units for their measurement (e.g., per operator) and collection frequency (e.g., per day). For equipment and reusable instruments, costs were sufficiently homogenous across SSPs that we could provide default per unit cost estimates (2016 US$) that SSPs can use in lieu of collecting their own data. Objectives: Information on the impact of health insurance on smoking and quit attempts at the state level is limited. We examined the state-specific prevalence of cigarette smoking and past-year quit attempts among adults aged 18-64 by health insurance and other individual- and state-level factors.

Methods: We used data from 41 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, the jurisdictions that administered the Health Care Access module of the 2014 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. Data on quit attempts included current smokers with a past-year quit attempt and former smokers who quit during the past year.
