วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อเปรียบเทียบประสิทธิภาพของอาหารเลี้ยงเชื้อไมติส ซาลิวาเรียส แบซิทราชิน อะการ์ ที่เตรียม เก็บไว้นาน 1, 3 และ 4 สัปดาห์ วัสดุและวิธีการ เก็บน้ําลายโดยใช้พาราฟินเป็นตัวกระตุ้นจากอาสาสมัคร 20 คน แล้วนําไปเพาะเลี้ยงเชื้อบน อาหารเลี้ยงเชื้อไมติส ซาลิวาเรียส อะการ์ และ ไม่ติส ซาลิวาเรียส แบซิทราซิน อะการ์ ที่เตรียมเก็บไว้นาน 1, 3 และ 4 สัปดาห์ โดยวิธีสเปรดเพลท ผลการศึกษา จํานวนมิวแทนส์ สเตร็ปโตคอคไค ที่เจริญบนอาหารเลี้ยงเชื้อไมติส ซาลิวาเรียส แบซิทราซิน อะการ์ เก็บที่อุณหภูมิ 4 องศาเซลเซียสเป็นระยะเวลา 1, 3 และ 4 สัปดาห์ มีจํานวนเชื้อและลักษณะโคโลนีไม่แตกต่างกัน และไม่พบการเจริญของเชื้อสปีชีส์อื่น เชื้อที่เลี้ยงบนอาหารเลี้ยงเชื้อที่ไม่มีแบซิทราซินมีจํานวนสูงกว่าอาหารเลี้ยง เชื้อที่มีแบซิทราซินอย่างมีนัยสําคัญทางสถิติ (p<0.05) สรุป อาหารเลี้ยงเชื้อไมติส ซาลิวาเรียส แบซิทราซิน อะการ์ สามารถเก็บที่อุณหภูมิ 4 องศาเซลเซียสได้นานถึง 4 สัปดาห์ โดยไม่สูญเสียคุณสมบัติของการเป็นอาหารเลี้ยงเชื้อจําเพาะสําหรับเชื้อกลุ่มมิวแทนส์ สเตร็ปโตคอคไค (ว ทันต จุฬาฯ 2558;38:177-184)

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to determine if MRI can be used to accurately measure tooth lengths. Methods: MRI tooth length measurements were compared with “actual tooth lengths” as measured on CBCT scans. Twenty three subjects received two scans (one CBCT and one MRI). Tooth length was measured and compared between the resultant images. Intraclass correlations were used for statistical analysis. Results: Tooth length measurements made on MRI scans showed moderate to almost perfect agreement with tooth length measurements made on CBCT scans. Higher levels of agreement were present in the maxillary arch compared to the mandibular arch. …

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is the leading cause of death among cardiovascular diseases. Among the numerous attempts to develop coronary marker concepts into clinical strategies, cardiac troponin is known as a specific marker for coronary events. Data sources: PubMed/Medline, Web of Science and the Cochrane Oral Health Group Trials Register, clinicaltrials.gov, www.centerwatch.com/clinical-trials, www.clinicalconnection.com supplemented by a manual search of dental implants-related journals.

Study selection: Clinical studies, either randomised or not, comparing implant failure rates, marginal bone level (MBL) and/or postoperative infection in any group of patients receiving platform-switched implants or platform-matched implants were considered.

Data extraction and synthesis: Study quality was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa scale (NOS).Only randomised clinical trials (RCTs) were considered for meta-analysis. Implant failure and postoperative infection were the dichotomous outcomes measures evaluated. Weighted mean differences were used for MBL.

Primary intraosseous salivary malignancies are rare. The adenoid cystic adenocarcinoma, adenocarcinoma not otherwise specified, acinic cell adenocarcinoma and the epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma have all been reported within the jaws. The mucoepidermoid carcinoma is by far the most common tumor in this setting accounting for 2%-4% of all mucoepidermoid carcinomas. An intraosseous sebaceous adenocarcinoma has never been reported. We document a case of sebaceous adenocarcinoma of the maxilla in a 56-year-old woman who presented with a painful swelling of the right face. CT scans showed an expansile, osteolytic tumor of the right maxilla. An exploratory biopsy revealed the tumor to be expanding …

Purpose: Scaling and root planing with adjunctive chemical pocket disinfection (SRP+C) utilizing sodium hypochlorite solution has been used to treat inflamed pockets of periodontal maintenance patients for many years, without evidence of its benefits. The primary objective was to determine if SRP+C is more effective than scaling and root planing alone (SRP) in improving clinical outcomes. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of novel locally-applied SIM conjugated with methoxypolyethylene glycol to form micelles (SIM/SIM-mPEG) in an experimental periodontitis model in rats using micro-computed tomography (µ-CT) and histologic evaluation.

This paper investigated the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and precision of laser fluorescence and tactile probing for the detection of subgingival calculus. The gold standard for subgingival calculus detection has always been tactile probing. In this study 27 teeth were collected and 108 surfaces investigated, one tooth was excluded (group #13) where no calculus was observed on any surface, and three surfaces because of subgingival root caries to avoid confounding data, which left a total of 101 surfaces of 26 extracted teeth that meet the investigation criteria. The authors present a case study of a 13-year-old female with a past medical history of tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC), an autosomal dominant disorder. It usually presents with a triad of epilepsy, mental deficiency and facial angiofibromas that are often dis tributed around the nose, cheek and chin, and are frequently shaped like butterfly wings. In addition, oral manifestations include gingival enlargement and developmental enamel pitting on the facial aspect of the anterior permanent dentition in 50% to 100% of patients. The patient’s chief complaint was gingival enlargement and gingival bleeding. The histology of the excised gingival tissue revealed epithelial …
