Restoration Of Dental Erosion In Silent Gastroesophageal Reflux Patients: A Case Report, Kanlapat Pongcharoensuk, Chalermpol Leevailoj

Teeth are the important elements of a personûs face. Thus, enamel loss in the anterior teeth can affect a personûs overall appearance and confidence. Enamel loss can be caused due to physiological factors (abrasion, attrition and abfraction) or by chemical dissolution (erosion), as occurs in a gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) patient. GERD is the retrograde flow of gastric contents into the oral cavity. Most GERD patients present classical symptoms (a heartburn sensation or regurgitation). In the case of a silent refluxer, dental erosion might be the first condition that can be observed. Among the responsibilities of the dentist is to …

Objective To assess the volume of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) that was apically extruded from teeth prepared to different apical sizes during irrigation using an EndoActivator compared with using a needle and a syringe. Materials and methods One hundred single root canals were instrumented and randomly divided into three experimental groups (n = 30) with final apical sizes of #35, #50, or #80. Each tooth was fixed in an agarose gel model and irrigated with 2.5% NaOCl using a needle and a syringe irrigating technique. The tooth was removed, cleaned, dried and re-fixed in a new agarose gel model prior to …

Laser Doppler Flowmetry: Basic Principle, Current Clinical And Research Applications In Dentistry, Chalida Limjeerajarus
Chulalongkorn University Dental Journal
Laser Doppler Flowmetry (LDF) is an accurate and reliable method for assessing microcirculatory function. Several studies have shown that, in comparison with other methods, the measurement of blood flow, especially of blood flow in bones, teeth and surrounding tissues, is reproducible and correlates with clinical features. LDF is typically used in dentistry to evaluate the vitality of a tooth after receiving an injury, such as luxation or avulsion, or the pathological condition of the dental pulp. LDF can be applied to monitor tooth vitality during orthodontic treatment, following maxillofacial surgery that might have possibly damaged the tooth, or in teeth …

Effect Of Cad/Cam Processing On Esthetic Characteristics Of Porcelain Veneers, Eduardo Cortes-Contreras
Effect Of Cad/Cam Processing On Esthetic Characteristics Of Porcelain Veneers, Eduardo Cortes-Contreras
Student Theses, Dissertations and Capstones
Introduction: Dentistry has changed significantly during the last two decades. Patients are more aware and demanding of the latest technologies available in restorative dentistry. The purpose of this study was to determine any possible changes on the surface roughness, gloss and color change of CAD-CAM milled porcelain veneers following repeated milling times, before and after a glazing process. Methods: A Teflon disk-shaped mold was used as a cast to take a digital impression (BlueCam) in order to fabricate cylindrical-shaped specimens. A total of one hundred (N=100) specimens porcelain veneers using Empress CAD (I10) block, were milled using the CAD/CAM CEREC-SIRONA …
Human Gingival Mesenchymal Stem Cells And Self-Assembling Peptide Puramatrix(Tm) Scaffold For Bone Formation, Don Do
Student Theses, Dissertations and Capstones
A thesis submitted to the College of Dental Medicine of Nova Southeastern University of the degree of Master of Science in Dentistry.
Purpose: Among various craniofacial defects, cleft palate is the most common congenital birth defect. Reconstruction of bony parts in the hard palate is important to preserve normal craniofacial growth. Autologous bone grafting is associated with donor site morbidity, extensive healing time, and scar formation. Tissue engineering techniques remain a viable option for the repair and reconstruction of bone. In this study, human gingiva-derived mesenchymal stem cells (HGMSCs) were used in combination with a self-assembled injectable hydrogel scaffold PuraMatrixTM …
Evaluation Of The Effect Of Enamel Deproteinization On Shear Bond Strength Of Orthodontic Adhesives And Resulting White Spot Lesion Formation, Kelly Chioffe
Student Theses, Dissertations and Capstones
A thesis submitted to the College of Dental Medicine of Nova Southeastern University of the degree of Master of Science in Dentistry.
Objective: The objectives of this study were 1) to evaluate the effect of enamel deproteinization on the shear bond strength(SBS) of orthodontic brackets bonded with a resin modified glass-ionomer (RMGI) adhesive and a composite resin, 2) to determine the mode of bond failure according to the adhesive remnant index (ARI) and 3) to evaluate the effect of these adhesives in the prevention of white spot lesions (WSLs). Background: WSLs are a concern for orthodontic patients. RMGI orthodontic adhesives …
Cephalometric Regional Superimpositions -- Digital Vs. Analog Accuracy And Precision : 1. The Maxilla, Glenn Krieger
Cephalometric Regional Superimpositions -- Digital Vs. Analog Accuracy And Precision : 1. The Maxilla, Glenn Krieger
Student Theses, Dissertations and Capstones
Introduction: The purpose of this study was to measure the displacement of defined dental structures, as a result of superimposition of cephalometric images across paired time-points by both digital and analog methods. The magnitudes of such displacements across three methods of superimposition were compared to each other and to a reference method constructed by registering superimposed cephalometric images on tantalum markers implanted in the study participants' maxillae. The defined dental structures were: 1) First molar mesial contact point; 2) First molar apical root bisection; 3) Central incisor root apex; 4) Central incisor crown incisal edge. Methods: Lateral cephalograms of 22 …
