Denosumab, or Prolia, is a medication given to increase bone mineral density (BMD) and prevent fracture risk in patients with osteoporosis. Guidelines for monitoring of side effects, data on long-term effects, and appropriate precautions are still being researched and developed. Healthcare teams are often unaware of preventative care measures to guide informed clinical decision making and patient care management. This work was written to fulfill two main purposes. First, to help survivors of Drug-Facilitated Sexual Assault (DFSA) process their experience by compiling the toxicological, pharmacological, and distribution of the three most used date-rape drugs. Second, to gauge the knowledge and interest of University of Arkansas students regarding drug impairments, sexual assault education, and bystander intervention training. A survey was conducted for the latter and revealed that 91.6% of students believe the University’s existing sexual assault prevention education and bystander intervention training have room for improvement. A 31p, 13c, And 1h Nmr Study Of The Direct Interaction Of Cocaine Hc1 And Magnesium Atp, Gene Lee Bangs, Roger M. Hawk, Debi Patangia

In vivo 31P NMR studies recently have shown that cocaine causes an imbalance of the free magnesium in the brain which results in pH lowering, ischemia, and even death. This direct interaction with the free Mg+2 inthe brain also affects the Ca+2 balance which controls arterial and vascular contraction. This research has addressed the mechanism of the cocaine interaction withmagnesium adenosine 5-triphosphate (ATP) using 31P, 13C, and 1H NMR using a Bruker 200 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) system. Data are presented and discussed which shows that cocaine and ATP form a complex species which directly affects the NMR spectra.

The conformation of the nitro group of nitroaromatic compounds relative to the aromatic ringsystem is suggested to affect their metabolic activation and mutagenicity. We have recently showed the nitrophenylfuran skeletal muscle relaxant, dantrolene, tobe a potent mutagen inSalmonella. Synthesis of or^o-substituted analogues of dantrolene was achieved in an effort to alter the conformation of the nitro group ina manner that willdecrease the mutagenicity. Using ab initio techniques we investigated the minimum energy conformation of the nitro group of dantrolene (/mitro) and its o-and mnitro isomers as well as the nitro group conformation of dantrolene's ortho- mono- and di- substituted analogues. …
