Background: Kratom is a native tree to Southeast Asia. Kratom leaves have long been used medicinally and recreationally due to their stimulative and opioid-like effects attributed to high endogenous levels of mitragynine and related alkaloids. Kratom is widely consumed as tea and is now publicly sold, including on food delivery platforms, after recent decriminalization despite selling of kratom products being still considered illegal by other acts.

The present work is focused on developing and validating an eco-friendly, sustainable and sensitive HPTLC method for the purpose of simultaneous determination of a five component mixture. This mixture includes paracetamol, caffeine, drotaverine HCl and the official impurities of the first two aforementioned drugs, namely; p-aminophenol and theophylline, in order. Despite the high mortality rate involved with invasive cerebral mycoses, there is a relative lack of research available around antifungals capable of crossing the blood brain barrier.

In this study the metabolites of four plants (Crocus vernus, Miniature Narcissus (daffodil), Osmanthus delavayi and Taraxacum officinale (common dandelion)) and two bacteria (Lacticaseibacillus paracasei and Staphylococcus epidermidis) were extracted and assayed for antifungal activity against Candida albicans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Proton pump inhibitors (PPI) have transformed the management of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, becoming one of the top-selling medications in the United States. There is no doubt that PPIs have a significant therapeutic impact on patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and gastrointestinal bleeding. However, evidence is mounting that PPIs are overprescribed, leading to more patients possibly experiencing adverse effects. The purpose of this study was to explore licensed counselors’ level of stigma toward individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs) and process/behavioral addictions (PBAs) and note any differences. A total of 138 licensed mental health counselors from one Midwestern state completed the SRTSS and the BRTSS to determine levels of stigma toward SUDs and PBAs, respectively. Participant scores from the SRTSS and BRTSS were normally distributed, and 15% to 32% of participants’ scores were reflective of stigma toward individuals with either SUDs or PBAs. Diadema savignyi spine extract in an experimental setup using L929 cell line in vitro. The cell metabolic activity of L929 cells is tested through an MTT assay. The sea urchin spine extract is applied to the cells in two concentrations: 100 μg/ml (136% viability) and 200 μg/ml (95% viability). The bioactive components of the sea urchin spine are identified via GC-MS, and the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities are evaluated using catalase assay (CAT), glutathione (GSH), and nitric oxide (NO) tests. The dangers of marijuana use are well documented across most body systems. We report a 27-year-old male who ingested marijuana and then experienced an ST-elevation myocardial infarction, subsequent cerebrovascular accident, and death within the span of a week. Toxicology reports were positive for THC only, echocardiography revealed diffuse hypokinesis with an ejection fraction estimated at 15-20%, and troponins peaked at greater than 270,000 pg/mL.
